Week 8 Recap- Standout Offensive Performances Across the State

Barnes did a great job finding rushing lanes and taking the ball upfield. He's patient when following his blockers and has the speed and elusiveness to shake and leave defenders in the dust</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>It's tough for defenders to take Barnes down. He's a hard runner with great contact balance and can power through defenders to make some highlight reel plays on the ground. I'm excited to see more from him this season.</em>"</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Barnes was unstoppable this week. He recorded 17 carries for a ridiculous 392 yards and 5 TDs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Park Crossing didn't have any answers for Barnes. He had so many explosive plays on the ground, it was a blast to watch. He's an incredibly physical back who makes defenders work to take him down. He runs hard, has great contact balance, and can easily shed off/power through anyone trying to take him down.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Bennett also has impressive vision that helps lead him to huge plays on the ground. He's great at finding lanes and does a great job waiting for and following his blockers around the field.</em>“</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bennett was terrific against Montevallo this week. He racked up 263 yards on 18 carries, making the most out of every opportunity on the ground.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I've become a big fan of Bennett's recently. I was really impressed watching McBride throw the deep ball- he places a lot of touch underneath his passes, can throw some impressive hole shots, and perfectly hits his WRs in stride wherever they're located on the field.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Another really impressive part of McBride's game is his mobility- he's quick on his feet and uses his legs to extend and make plays on the ground, consistently finding great yardage and the endzone once he leaves the pocket.</em>“</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McBride had another dominant showing this week against Prattville Christian. He completed 12/19 passes for 242 yards and 2 TDs, with another 5 carries for 100 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I've been a big fan of McBride's this year. He's an up-and-coming QB who should be on everyone's radar- what he's been able to do in his first two seasons has been extremely impressive. Marion plays with a ton of twitch and quickness, he gains tons of separation off his route running, can easily make defenders miss after the catch, and is just a shifty WR that can easily lose DBs downfield.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marion's elusiveness is the real deal;<em>&nbsp;he really reminds me of former Baker star WR Bryce Cain with how well he uses his speed and twitch to carve up defenses. It's also impressive seeing how versatile of a playmaker he is both on offense and special teams- if you get him the ball, he's going to find a way to make plays.</em>"</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Marion was unstoppable against a really talented MGM defense. He hauled in 9 receptions for 182 yards and 4 TDs and made it look easy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I've been really impressed with Marion's play this season. His blend of speed and twitch make him such a tough WR to stop. He has some great releases off the line of scrimmage and can quickly gain separation downfield to make huge plays.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Rutledge also really impressed me with his blocking downfield- he's a physical WR who isn't afraid to make contact, and consistently helped his teammates by blocking and opening up space for them.</em>"</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rutledge was terrific against Springville this week.
