Week 6 Scouting Report: Haslett

He's one of the most electrifying players in the state, and he showed again why he is a P4 guy with tons of upside. Gets to the 2nd level quickly and finishes through contact.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Great mix of power and balance. Consistently broke through first contact and fought for extra yardage. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Tremendous vision as advertised. He brought a different dynamic to the offense with his physicality. He added a downhill presence and was punishing between the tackles. His physicality was clearly weari8ng down defenders and he was able to cap off a strong night with a key TD to tie things up heading into the 4th quarter. Here's what I jotted down on his play on Friday: </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Physical runner that runs behind his pads. Big legs that he keeps churning through contact and falls forward for extra yardage. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Set the tone with his ability to deliver the hits, punish defenders and wore them out throughout the night. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Great complimentary back that provides a nice changeup. He is a quick and explosive EDGE that thrives on his mix of speed and power. What I saw from him against Williamston made me confident in my feeling that this is a D1 guy with a really high ceiling. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Crushed down what would be outside runs. Able to use his leverage to turn plays back inside and make plays at the point of attack. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Versatile pass rusher that's able to win reps with a burst of speed or his strong hands and upper body power. Has all of the technique and physicality to torture offensive linemen. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Great bend and high motor. He's a natural fit at the position, and he possesses the physical tools as well as the football IQ to be effective on every play. He delivered some big hits and was able to spoil some plays before they ever really took off. Below are a few traits I noticed right away. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Great reaction time. Reads plays quickly and is decisive and confident in his reads. Gets to his position and has the awareness to know exactly what the offense is trying to do. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Brings physicality to every play. Lowers the shoulder and delivers punishing hits and sets the tone for his team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Versatile LB that's able to come up and play physical in the box or drop back into coverage. What stood out to me was his ball skills and feel for the game at the DB position. He had great instincts in coverage, great ball tracking ability and the ability to position himself correctly, including an interception where he undercut the receiver on an underthrown ball. Below are some of the notes I had on his performance against Williamston. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Great ball skills. Plays the ball through the receivers hands and attacks the ball aggressively. Great timing and athleticism. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Fluid movement. Smooth hips, great change of direction and the top end speed to recover if a receiver gets some separation. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-Great footwork and playmaking instincts make him extremely hard for receivers to beat consistently. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
