What I have seen from Asher in offseason workouts absolutely translates to his game on Friday nights. He is a quick and explosive EDGE that thrives on his mix of speed and power. What I saw from him against Williamston made me confident in my feeling that this is a D1 guy with a really high ceiling.
-Crushed down what would be outside runs. Able to use his leverage to turn plays back inside and make plays at the point of attack.
-Versatile pass rusher that’s able to win reps with a burst of speed or his strong hands and upper body power. Has all of the technique and physicality to torture offensive linemen.
-Great bend and high motor. Asher can impact the run and pass game and is a true threat on every play to be disruptive.

, and a quick look at his highlights will tell you exactly why. He had a great 2024 season, and may only be scratching the surface of his potential. He has great size at 6’4 234, and his mix of speed and power is going to be a problem for a number of offenses in 2025. He has strong legs that allows him to anchor down when offenses try to kick him out, and on 3rd and long, Newman is able to pin his ears back and win reps in a number of ways to get sacks. Newman will be a force for the next couple of seasons at Haslett.

Asher put up an incredible 2024 highlight tape and parleyed that with several impressive camp performances.
He’s a high-end speed rusher. Asher is simply too explosive for a lot of high school offensive tackles. In passing scenarios, Asher will be able to get to the QB. I fear for the teams with lower-end tackle play. Asher is going to end a lot of drives.
As a run defender, Asher is quite good. Against the run, he proves that he’s much more than a quick pass rusher. He consistently demonstrates an ability to take on blocks head-on, sometimes driving his blocker into the play. Excited to see more progression here.

Asher is my most covered new addition to this date. I’ve already written about Asher numerous times, but now, we can talk about his ranking.
He makes a strong debut at #33, alongside others that I consider MAC prospects. Asher has the getoff, bend, and motor to eventually be a dude in the MAC. His tape reminds me a bit of Carter Stagner, a 2018 Seaholm grad.

Things are beginning to showball for Asher.
Headlined by one of the best highlight tapes in the state, Asher has gone through the gauntlet of camps and is now making a good name for himself. Asher now holds offers from Toledo and Eastern Michigan.
Asher’s tape proves that he’s one of the most hard-nosed linemen in the state. He’s not afraid to lay the wood on attempted kick-out / pull blocks. He’s also smart enough to identify reach blocks, and force his way toward the play. Asher also has a couple of very promising pass-rushing highlights, demonstrating good bend.
This offseason, he’s been at work. I have verified height, weight, 40, broad jump, and shuttle from the Wayne State Mega Camp. Although I didn’t specifically watch Asher at any camp this offseason, there are a few clips on his Twitter, which does help.
Asher will be a top 5 defensive lineman in the next update.

A potential Gem. I absolutely love Asher’s play speed.
Right off the bat, Asher delivers a strike on a RB block attempt, and earns the tackle for loss. Second, an incredible job firing off the ball, staying anchored, staying low, and dipping past the block. Plus, there’s moments like 0:44 showing quick, violent hands and all-around high upside rushing the passer.
I could go on and on, but there are several excellent traits that Ahser possesses. Get off, motor, IQ are all far above average. If his size is accurate, Asher’s upside is extremely high. Love the tape, and Asher should be ranked fairly high come next update.

I see you, Asher!
Asher is a quick, physical EDGE rusher from Haslett. His first highlight are his best- the tape kicks off with an excellent hit on the attempted kickout blocker and a good tackle. Second, a great push into the C gap, negating the tackle’s efforts and ruining the power run. Third, a good speed rush, pressure, and eventual tackle.
The rest of Asher’s tape doesn’t reach the highs of his first 3 highlights, but the general theme is still there. Against the run, Asher is patient yet physical. If he’s play side, Asher will do his best to anchor down, duck past blockers, and make the tackle. If he’s not play side, he does a solid job of chasing down the ball carrier.
If Asher is truly 6’4″, he has a chance to be a good EDGE prospect. Based on this tape and this tape alone, I could see Asher being a D2 prospect in a year, but that’s going off limited information.
