The Cherokees defense could not control Thompson as he produced over 300 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. Currently ranked by #PRZTN as the 2nd best running back from our senior class, Thompson is starting to come on late in the season as a guy that could lead his Mavericks on a deep run in the playoffs due to his explosive running and ability to hit the home run.

- - - - -

Offensive Player of the Week

Stats: 24-26 passing for 353 yds & 4 TD's (46 yds rushing, 2 TD's)

This East Tennessee signal caller is coming off his best game of the year in the Wildcats victory over Farragut where Stansberry was uber efficient while producing six total touchdowns. Just about anything Stansberry wanted to do against the Admirals, he did it. The Wildcats quarterback was clean in this matchup as he made the proper throws, doing so on time while placing his team in position to score at will. This performance in general is sure to peak the interest of college coaches as Stansberry was purely surgical.

- - - - -

Defensive Player of the Week

Stats: 13 tcks, 5 TFL & 3 sacks

Smith was an absolute force in the Wildcats upset victory in “Week Ten” over Antioch where he constantly played in the Bears backfield and was a major reason behind the win. Smith has been a consistent performer all season long but this was his best game to date. His active motor, instincts in finding the ball and quick first step proved to be tough to handle for the Antioch blockers as they couldn't do anything to stop him. Smith is a top candidate to earn All-State honors by season end and will be a key player in the Wildcats effort at advancing in the coming playoffs.

- - - - -

O-line Unit of the Week

Anderson Co. Mavericks (Key Lineman: [player_tooltip player_id='402531' first='Charles' last='Humphrey Jr.'], [player_tooltip player_id='1643231' first='Eli' last='Tolley'], [player_tooltip player_id='1366551' first='Vance' last='Young'])

- It was hard not to give this honor to the Mavericks after their work in “Week Ten” where they paved the way for Thompson to run for over 300 yards while scoring seven times. This is an overall young unit up front for Anderson Co. but they have steadily gotten better as the season has gone on. Last week against South Doyle, the Mavs O-line had probably their best performance of the season, which is a good sign as they go into their matchup this versus Alcoa and into the coming playoffs.

- - - - - - - - -

Positional Players of the Week

QB: [player_tooltip player_id='480742' first='Kelvin' last='Perkins'] - Southwind (Stats: 16-21 passing for 316 yds & 5 TD's - 20 yds rushing, 2 TD's)

- Perkins has been a regular inside our “POTW” honors all season and he earned his place yet again after another highly productive performance. The Jags senior quarterback was unstoppable last week where Perkins generated over 300 yards of total offense along with producing seven touchdowns in the team's 48-15 victory over PURE Academy.

- - -

RB: Luke DiPietro - Dresden (Stats: 22 carr. for 272 yds & 4 TD's)

- The Lions had a big win in “Week Ten” over South Fulton to secure a region title and DiPietro was a major factor in those efforts. This senior ball carrier has been solid all season but has really started to come on late in the season with last Friday being one of his best performances of the season. His strong play will need to continue in the playoffs as the Lions are a top contender for the 1A title.

- - -

WR: [player_tooltip player_id='480743' first='Torin' last='McAfee'] - Knox. Central (Stats: 9 rec. for 276 yds & 3 TD's)

- Scouted as a defensive back inside our database, McAfee has emerged as a threat on the offensive side of the ball with last week being one of his better receiving performances throughout his career. The Bobcats senior athlete was the ultimate playmaker during the team's one point win over William Blount as he produced nearly 300 yards receiving along with three touchdowns.

- - -

ATH: [player_tooltip player_id='1103508' first='Jamarcus' last='Watkins'] - Clarksville (Stats: 14 carr. for 147 yds & 4 TD's - 4 tcks, 1 PD on Def.)

- Watkins was an absolute game changer in the Wildcats upset victory last week over Antioch. His future in college will be on defense but his work on the offensive side of the ball proved to be a difference maker in the win as Watkins ran for nearly 150 yards while scoring four times against the Bears. If Watkins produces more games like this moving forward, the Wildcats are advancing far in the playoffs.

- - -

DL/Edge: Ashton Martin - Marion Co. (Stats: 9 tcks, 4 TFL, 1 FF, 1 PD & 4 sacks)

- All this guy does is disrupt opponents backfield and last week in the team's win over Cascade, Martin produced another top level game with 9 tackles, four of them for loss, which were all sacks. The Warriors senior edge rusher is a difficult assignment to block for the opposition as Martin does a good job of getting off the ball fast with nice bend and chasing down the ball on a consistent basis.

- - -

LB: [player_tooltip player_id='1657165' first='Dom' last='Culp'] - Knox. Halls (Stats: 6 tcks, 3 TFL, 2 sacks & 1 Int - 55 yds rushing, 1 TD on Off.)

- The Red Devils moved to 4-2 inside their region after last week's win over Campbell Co. with Culp being a nuisance in the Cougars backfield. This senior linebacker simply has a nose for the ball and he showed that last week with multiple sacks while also producing an interception. Culp contributed on offense as well with 55 yards rushing and one score.

- - -

DB: Colt Ogle - Giles Co. (Stats: 6 tcks, 2 PD & 1 Int pick six)

- Ogle has become a rising star for his Bobcats defense this year due to his ability to play good coverage while also providing work against the run. Those skills showed up last week in the team's big win over Forrest. The Bobcats sophomore produced six total tackles along with two passes defended and a huge pick six that helped push his team to victory.
