Mountain State Midseason DB Film Evaluations (Pt.1)

Colleges will evaluate prospect film from the midpoint of the season to assess their progress this season, as they update their recruiting boards. After playing mostly in the box as a junior, Lockett has seen reps at deep safety this season, but has also crept back into the box at times. He can excel in either role and will continue to improve in coverage with the more experience he gets on the back end. Lockett fits the run very well for a DB and has the athleticism to roam in the secondary. He's been a big playmaker at receiver this season, but has a high ceiling as a defensive back as well at the next level. Smalls is a plus athlete, which is primarily displayed at receiver on his midseason tape. He's a quick, twitchy athlete who has proven he can be an offensive playmaker at receiver and running back this season on top of his known defensive prowess. Sands is second on the team in tackles with 54 as a highly productive safety prospect. He plays fearlessly in space, with his wrestling background aiding him in that regard. Added size in the future will benefit Walley's game further, but he plays the corner position with physicality as a willing presser. He's been selfless on special teams as well as one of their better tacklers on kickoffs, where he plays with notable effort. He's leading the team in interceptions with 4, and you can see why he's been so highly productive when watching his midseason tape. Webster can cover a lot of ground quickly on the back end of their defense at safety and has very good closing speed on the ball. He's been a quality addition to the Wildcats' program for his senior season and should see some college interest in the coming months. Hill is a long and athletic safety prospect who could potentially bulk up to linebacker or a hybrid type of player at the next level.
