It's always difficult for freshmen to make an impact on varsity in their first year of high school, but there are always some early names to keep close tabs on for the future. Here are some freshmen seeing varsity action with film this season!

The Chapmanville coaches like the future outlook of 2029 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1716368' first='Archer' last='Altizer'], who has seen varsity reps as a freshman for the undefeated Tigers. He could project at a few different positions by the time he's a senior as a versatile young athlete. Linebacker is where he's seeing the most time in his first season of high school football, but Altizer's size and athleticism may have him as more of a safety pending further physical growth with quarterback experience as well. You can see how athletic he is as an outside linebacker with his lateral quickness and ability to play in space. Altizer is a name to monitor over the next three years, and he should develop into a future standout on Friday nights for the Tigers.

2029 John Marshall prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1716508' first='Braden' last='Storm'] is starting as a long snapper and seeing time along the offensive line for the Monarchs in his freshman season. They've been riddled with injuries at the OL position, and Storm has stepped up to fill a need. He's doing a great job at long snapper as a freshman and has a bright future for the position with his 6'2 205 frame and quality athleticism. Storm does a great job of covering punts and is quick to get downfield after his snap, which is great to see in a young snapper.

[player_tooltip player_id='1748520' first='CJ' last='Lovejoy'] is making an impact as a freshman for the Nitro Wildcats as a TE/H-Back and is doing a nice job in that role. He has a fullback build right now at 5'10 220, and is performing well as a blocker on offense in both the passing and running game. Lovejoy has shown quickness that would allow him to be utilized as a pass catcher at times on screens and quick passes, while also being able to block in space and as a lead blocker to the second level. How his body develops over the next few years will determine his position as a prospect, but Lovejoy is executing his role well in year one.

2029 South Charleston WR [player_tooltip player_id='1716431' first='Devin' last='Lazo'] is leading the Black Eagles in receiving so far during his freshman season and will be one of the better receiver prospects in this class. He had his coming otu party against St. Albans, showcasing his big-play ability with two catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Lazo is also a willing blocker on the outside as they iron out their passing game with a crop of young players, which speaks to his selflessness. South Charleston's youth movement will benefit athletes like Lazo who have flashed potential to have bright futures early on.

South Charleston has a pair of promising 2029 receivers that they've utilized this season, and [player_tooltip player_id='1716380' first='Amari' last='Valentine'] is a name you'll want to know. He made an immediate impact this season for the Black Eagles in game one, catching the game-winning Hail Mary in the final seconds. Valentine has totaled 12 catches for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns this season and has done a nice job as a defensive back, as the third-leading tackler with 19 stops. We'll learn more about his game as he produces more film and gets increased touches, but the early signs show that Valentine will be a name to know in the 2029 class.
