[player_tooltip player_id='1850235' first='Jadyn' last='Burton'] and Keokuk haven't been perfect this season -- far from it, in fact. But, led by former Iowa wide receiver, Marvin McNutt as their head coach, there has been an explosion of passing with Burton under center for the 3-3 Chiefs.

In his first year starting as just a sophomore, Burton has lit it up through the air, ranking in the top five in 3A in passing touchdowns (17), passing yards (1,374), passing completions (88) and yards per completion (15.6). Connecting on 63.8% of his passes, McNutt has entrusted the keys to the offense to his 6-foot, 180-pound gunslinger.

Burton has cultivated quite a pairing with fellow sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id='1850280' first='Kurt' last='Joy'] as well, who has caught 30 passes for 537 yards and six scores this season. He ranks first in 3A in receiving yards.

Speaking of receiver and quarterback duos, [player_tooltip player_id='1850786' first='Jameson' last='Gregoire'] has become one of Central Dewitt quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='1850755' first='Hudson' last='Krukow']'s favorite targets in his second season for the Tigers. Krukow, a senior, is one of the more productive quarterbacks in the state this season, and he's found his X-receiver in Gregoire.

Though he ranks second on his team in total receptions behind senior, [player_tooltip player_id='1687437' first='Brady' last='Meadows'] with 44, Gregoire's 27 receptions have him atop the leader board for Central Dewitt in receiving yards, besting Meadows' 518 with 526 yards so far this season. The two receivers have each scored seven touchdowns through the air so far this season, too.

Tied for first in 3A with those seven scores, Gregoire ranks only behind Joy in total receiving yards, and he comes in first in yards per catch with 19.5.

It's not so much that [player_tooltip player_id='1241515' first='Eli' last='Kampman']'s senior season has resulted in a jump in production from his junior campaign, but how much the Iowa legacy (the son of Aaron Kampman) has improved in just one season for Solon.

Last year, as the backup behind Ty Bell under center, Kampman finished the season with some time at quarterback in blowout wins for the Spartans while mostly playing wide receiver. Defensively is where the majority of his impact came, as the 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect posted 24.5 tackles and a 46-yard pick-six.

Now a senior, Kampman's production on the offensive side of the ball has shot through the roof. So far this fall, he's completed 69-of-103 passes (67%) for 1,121 yards, 14 touchdowns and just one pick. On the ground, he's taken 54 carries for 246 yards and three scores. He currently ranks fourth in 3A in touchdowns, fifth in passing yards and TDs, second in passing yards per completion (16.2) and first in QB rating (201.3).

He's still helping defensively, too. So far, along with 12 tackles, Kampman has a 26-yard pick-six, and he's tied for the 3A lead in forced fumbles with two.

Similar to Kampman, [player_tooltip player_id='1197495' first='Davis' last='Tokheim'] of Des Moines Christian was a pivotal piece in the success the Lions were able to put on the field last season.

As a sophomore, Tokheim's most notable contributions came as a running back, taking 67 carries for 493 yards and five scores, while also returning 13 kicks for 293 yards and two scores.

This season, he's done more to live up to the ATH positional description.

Starring in all three phases, Tokheim's production starts out of the backfield, as he's taken 92 carries for 567 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, he's grabbed three interceptions, returning two for TDs (ranked first in defensive scores in 3A). On special teams, the junior has returned nine punts for 221 yards and four kicks for 121 yards and a score.

The star defensive back for one of the top powerhouse programs in northwest Iowa and in 3A, [player_tooltip player_id='1906706' first='Grant' last='Whitcomb'] of Bishop Heelan didn't record a single interception last season for the Crusaders.

This year, the 6-foot, 165-pound defensive back is tied for the lead in 3A with four picks through six games. Returning one for a touchdown, he's averaging 23 yards per return. Whitcomb has helped out as a receiver on a run-heavy team, too, as he's grabbed seven passes for 156 yards and a score.
