[player_tooltip player_id='1608319' first='Max' last='Davis'] was a man on a mission in this game. Before we get to the stats, just know that I haven't seen a performance this impressive on the field since covering Quavaris Crouch at Harding HS in 2017, and he was the #1 player in the country at the time. The main reason I say that is because Max had 24 carries for 252 yards and 5 touchdowns offensively in this one. Then, he went out and played nearly snap on defense and had 11 tackles from his linebacker position. We'll talk about his defense in a seperate article, but offensively, Max dominated this game, along with his offensive line. Max showed some breakaway speed in the open field and the ability to run through 2nd and 3rd-level tackle attempts. And he simply just didn't get tired with the heavy workload. When you're the focal point offensively, everyone knows it, and you still produce at this level - that's special stuff. I talked with Max after the game.

Burns didn't throw the ball much - mainly because they didn't need to - but they did open the game with a bubble screen on the first play to Jorian, and he nearly took it the distance if it wasn't for a shoestring tackle by a Stuart Cramer defensive back. It was a smart play call because the Stuart Cramer defense packed the box in anticipation of slowing down the running game from the Bulldogs. Jorian showed some nice speed and agility in the open field as well. He finished with 3 catches for 50 yards in the game.

Eli is listed as a tight end, but I would say he's definitely more of an H-Back/move guy, and he really was an essential part of the running game success Burns had in this game. Eli did a great job of blocking both ends and linebackers in the Bulldogs' scheme, and I really liked that he got excited when he had a big block that put a Storm defender on the ground. It's an old-school fullback kind of mentality, and I enjoyed watching his effort, form, and technique on those blocks.

I have seen Gage up close previously at the CFI Carolinas MEGA Showcase back in the spring, and man he was a dominant player up front in this running game here. I thought the Burns offensive line played well overall, but I thought Gage was the best of the bunch up front. The Burns running game had a lot of success running behind their left side most of the night, and Gage plays left guard for the Bulldogs. He had a lot of important down blocks and combo blocks to the 2nd level that allowed Max to get his speed up to run through some tackles at times, and also allowed him to even run untouched on some of his big runs until he got to the third level of the defense.

The Storm's quarterback had some nice moments in this one, and he's been a big reason why they have been off to their best start as a team in many years. Clee had a nice touchdown pass to his tight end that was a beautiful throw against man coverage in a spot where his player was the only one who was going to make a play on the ball. Clee also used his legs to make some plays at times and had a couple of nice passes dropped that would have been big plays.

The highly talented tight end spent most of his time on offense, flexed out playing wide receiver, and he made a nice play for a touchdown catch in the first quarter to tie the game up 7-7. Qualteau was able to high point the football over a smaller defensive back in the end zone for the score. Qualteau also had a nice catch over the middle on that same drive, and I thought he might go on to have a big night statistically.

The Storm running back had a nice night on the ground, rushing for 96 yards on 21 carries. Dominick showed some nice patience and vision on a variety of runs in their offense, knowing when to explode into space versus allowing his blockers to set up their blocks in their scheme. Dominick is a good back that is the basis of what the Storm builds their offensive attack around.
