The first round of the playoffs are in the books! We saw upsets, clutch performances, big time numbers, and state leaders continue their dominant runs. Several uncommitted seniors in particular dominated the first around. We saw multiple uncommitted WRs prove to be nightmare matchups. Up and coming athletes also were on display as a junior QB hit for 5 TDs, and multiple junior RBs ripped off 3+ TDs. We also talk about a few impressive QBs, including uncommitted seniors. There is so much to talk about, so let's get right into it. As always, coaches make sure you are tapped in on these kids.

Stats: 9 receptions, 139 Yards, 1 TD

It has been 10 weeks so far and defenses still haven't figured out that they need to have at least one guy staying deep over the top of the senior WR because several times a game Mason is going to be using that top end speed to try and rip the top off the defense. Mason has speed to burn and really good ball skills, making for a dangerous deep threat. River Falls has done a great job with their gameplan, though, because they also get Mason involved in the quick passing game to attack the big cushions he gets. One thing is for certain. The senior WR creates mismatches on a play to play basis. Check out the WR steal.

Stats: 13 Carries, 180 Yards, 4 TDs

Amarii made it look too easy in Level 1 of the playoffs! He carved up the defense with a deadly combination of patience, vision, acceleration and a second gear in the open field. Ward did an outstanding job behind the line and that led to the big gains. He let blocks develop, and then let his natural gifts shine as he would utilize those blocks and open alleys. It was also great to see that the junior RB could also play with some physicality and drag defenders trying to arm tackle him. Great showing for Amarii and his team.

Stats: 11 Carries, 102 Yards, 1 TD, 33 Receiving Yards

You better strap up, wrap up, and hope your teammates swarm in time when you try to bring down Eli. The two way stud for Mount Horeb has put together a great season at RB and LB. I want to focus on the way this kid runs the rock this week. Eli does a great job reading the line in front of him and hits the hole like a runaway freight train. That combination of power, contact balance, and speed proved to be too much for defenders to try and corral in the open field leading to several chunk plays for the junior. The junior RB is doing a great job of helping keep the MH/B offense balanced. He had 6 total completions/carries and was still responsible for 4 TDs. Unreal efficiency, but the experienced senior is no stranger to crazy stat lines. It is fun tape to watch. Peyton drives the ball into a receiver. Then he goes back to back to back dimes with touch deep downfield, including both of his TD completions. Both rushing TDs came on great reads where he pulled the ball and showed off the speed to easily get around the edge and into the endzone. Peyton made it look easy. He and this Columbus team are gearing up for a run. The junior RB has not disappointed in the slightest. The kid is electric with the ball in his hands. The '27 RB has an outstanding ability to accelerate through gaps. Once he gets into that open field, good luck. Reece can beat angles and even if you do have him squared up he has the agility to make anyone miss in space. The playmaker is running at a different game speed than the rest of the field. It stands out from the crowd for sure. It started this past Friday with an elite display of accuracy and overall arm talent from Brock. In rhythm, off platform, on a rope, or dropping it in a bucket. Brock made a highlight worthy completion in every one of those ways. The senior QB has made strides in terms of arm talent. There is more velocity on the ball than last year while still maintaining pinpoint ball placement. The growth has caught the eye of the next level too as he just recently earned a D2 offer from Winona State. Grantsburg is rolling, as is the senior QB. He showed off that he could drive it into tight spots underneath. The senior also did great with his legs to buy time. While doing so he still kept his eyes downfield too. The senior is poised, productive, accurate, and developing weekly. They delivered on that with a huge win in overtime over Neenah. One of the athletes we knew would have to step up is WR Sam Robb, and step up he did! Right from the first play the senior was electric. His TD catch came on a deep shot where he went up between two defenders, fought the ball into his arms, and then fought his way through the two defenders into the endzone. A dominant display of strength. The senior then went on to make other wild catches in traffic. The hands and concentration to do what he was doing last Friday are special. The defense clearly respected his talents as there were always two defenders near him, yet they still couldn't slow him down. The senior WR is slept on and needs more looks. Then in the first round of those playoffs the senior RB broke the school record for rushing yards! The senior is hitting his stride at the perfect time for East. Turn on the tape. Zyon makes it look easy. Vision and speed are a deadly combination and he used it to shred the opposing defense. Give this kid an inch and he is going to take it 80 yards. Defenses have to be so gap sound or Zyon has the speed and second gear to make you pay. Zyon plays like a track star. Once he seems the path he is focusing on getting to top speed quickly and maintaining it so nobody can chase him down. Playmaking, vision, and speed to burn in one package and still uncommitted. Come get your newest playmaker.

Stats: 26/34, 419 Yards, 5 TDs, 27 Rushing Yards

As a junior, Quintin has broke out and proven to be one of the most prolific passers in WI. I had high hopes after watching him at Whitewater's summer camp and the junior has delivered. He also delivered in Level 1 where it was clear points would be plentiful and needed. At this point you can see the confidence Quintin has in his own talents and the trust he has with his receivers so that he can put it out there for them to go make a play on. The '27 does a great job with his ball placement, stemming from excellent mechanics. The arm strength is there too, and allows him to deliver the ball even when he can't step into it while staring down a free defender. Poise, arm talent, mechanics, and production are all strengths for the junior QB. The numbers will continue to build as he and his team move on to Level 2.
