Week 2 Recap- Standout Defensive Performances Across the State

What a week!   Today, we're watching some of our Standout Performers on the defensive side of the ball. These prospects dominated this week and have been putting together some impressive seasons- we're all going to have to watch out for them moving forward.   With that being said, make sure you watch their film below!    De'Narrius Crawford is a talented member of Hewitt Trussville's defense and was a huge reason why his team won 28-14 over Vestavia Hills last night.   "Crawford is incredibly versatile and used in a ton of different ways in Hewitt-Trussville's defense. As a blitzer, Crawford plays with a ton of speed and flies through blockers to get to the quarterback- he comes off the edge incredibly fast and generates huge plays in clutch situations for his defense.   Against the run, Crawford is terrific in pursuit- it doesn't matter where he lines up pre-snap, he works his way across the entire field to make tackles on the ball carrier. Crawford is just as valuable in coverage, lining up inside, and completely taking away WRs/TEs from opposing passing games."   Crawford was a huge reason why his team was able to hold Vestavia Hills to only 14 points. He racked up 14 tackles, 3 sacks, and one pressure on the night.   I've been a big fan of Crawford's game for a few months, and man, he has been off to a hot start this fall. Make sure you check out some of his highlights from last night:      Rufus Boone had a HUGE night in his team's 63-0 shutout over Rehobeth this week.   "Right off the bat, it's clear that Boone is a dominant force against the run. He flies downhill and fights off/slips by blockers to consistently meet the ball carrier at or behind the line of scrimmage. Boone is really quick on his feet and can make some hustle plays in pursuit. It's really impressive watching him work from sideline to sideline to create stops.   Boone is just as productive against the pass. He's a disruptive force in the backfield who blitzes really well and consistently pressures and sacks the opposing quarterback."   Last night, Boone was unstoppable, recording 9 total tackles (4 for loss), one sack, and one INT. It didn't matter what Rehobeth's offense tried to do; Boone had an answer. He's such a talented defender and deserves a lot more attention than he's picked up. Make sure you watch out for him down the stretch.      [player_tooltip player_id='1630521' first='Jackson' last='Carlisle'], a Boston College commit, has been unstoppable throughout the first three weeks of the season.   “Carlisle is a force on the line of scrimmage. He explodes off the snap, has quick, violent hands, and can completely overwhelm OL with his size, speed, and strength. It's seriously impressive seeing how Carlisle wins in the trenches- he has a wide variety of moves he uses to get by offensive linemen, and makes it look effortless.   Once in the backfield, Carlisle is terrific at generating pressure, forcing bad decisions, and taking down the quarterback. He also presents a ton of obstacles against the run- he's terrific in pursuit and is a great tackler who doesn't allow for any additional yards after making contact.“   Carlisle and Central Tuscaloosa have been off to a great start this season. In a 35-0 shutout of Paul W. Bryant, Carlisle recorded 4 total tackles (3 for loss) and constantly generated pressure.   If you haven't seen him already, make sure you look out for Carlisle moving forward. He's a dominant DL that's putting together a huge season this fall:      [player_tooltip player_id='1627217' first='Thaelon' last='Henton'] provided lockdown coverage all last night in his team's 27-7 win over Robertsdale.   "Henton is incredibly reliable in coverage- he has great size, speed, and skills in man coverage that allow him to come away with a lot of plays on the ball. Henton isn't easily beaten off the LOS, wears down WRs with his physicality, and consistently uses his hands to break up passes and haul in interceptions.   Henton is just as productive as a run defender- he has great pursuit skills and consistently flies downfield from the secondary to fill in lanes and wrap up the ball carrier."   Robertsdale's passing game struggled a ton last night, and Henton was a big reason why. He didn't allow a single reception, was only targeted once, and hauled in an interception. Make sure you give him a watch down below:      Michael Chobey has been unstoppable for Huntsville's defensive front this season, and just put together another huge performance last night.   “Chobey is a dominant run defender- he's quick off the snap, has violent hands, and has the speed, leverage, and strength to consistently work around OL and get to the ball carrier for stops. Chobey plays with relentless effort and is a reliable tackler who makes a lot of impressive plays in pursuit, sometimes working from across the field to make plays.   On passing downs, Chobey has similar success. He's an efficient pass rusher who generates tons of pressure, forces bad decisions, and racks up sacks nearly every time the quarterback drops back.“   Chobey was a massive problem for Grissom's OL, especially rushing the passer. He racked up 4 sacks and a ton of pressures last night, coming in clutch in a tight 20-13 game.   I've been seriously impressed with Chobey over the last few months, and man, he's taken some huge steps this season.
