Michael Chobey is a disruptive edge from Huntsville who was one of the top pass rushers in the state this past season.
“Chobey is a dominant run defender- he’s quick off the snap, has violent hands, and has the speed, leverage, and strength to consistently work around OL and get to the ball carrier for stops. Chobey plays with relentless effort and is a reliable tackler who makes a lot of impressive plays in pursuit, sometimes working from across the field to make plays.
On passing downs, Chobey has similar success. He’s an efficient pass rusher who generates tons of pressure, forces bad decisions, and racks up sacks nearly every time the quarterback drops back.“
Last week, Chobey announced he’d picked up a new offer, this time from Austin Peay!
Chobey has made a huge impact on Huntsville’s defense the last two seasons. I won’t be surprised if more teams reach out with offers soon. He has a ton of talent and skill that will translate at the next level.

Chobey’s game is powered by size, strength, and a rare motor that’s arguably one of the hottest in the state. He plays with an urgency that jumps off the film, and the skill set follows immediately after. He consistently creates advantages with strong initial strikes and disciplined hand placement, setting the tone early in reps. His bull rush is a real weapon — he converts speed to power effectively and walks linemen back into the pocket. He also flashes enough bend to threaten the edge, preventing blockers from sitting on power alone.
His hands stay active throughout the rep, allowing him to disrupt passing lanes even when he doesn’t get home. He doesn’t rely on one move — he stacks effort with technique and keeps pressure consistent. That constant wear-and-tear shows up over four quarters, similar to a boxer breaking down his opponent late in the fight. He’s a steady disruptor who impacts the game well beyond the stat sheet.
