We're two weeks into the High School football season, and we're starting to see tape posted to Hudl. Most players don't opt to post tape until midseason. Though there are some who have posted individual game highlights. Today, I'll take a look at five players from the OAA Blue / OAA Gold who have promising tape through two weeks.

North Farmington has some very promising young talent. Davell has had a good first two weeks.

Kicking off his tape versus Stevenson is a 3-yard hitch, catch, and about 5 yards after catch. I love the twitchiness and effort after the catch. I can tell that Davell is a good athlete, though the route fundamentals can be cleaned up. Second, Davell runs a go route and secures the perfectly-placed ball. Great job securing that catch. Again, should work on the route fundamentals.

We can see a bit more of the RAC ability at 0:50. I'm not 100% sure what the route was, but after Davell secures it, be breaks a tackle, sidesteps another, and travels down the sideline.

Overall, a good game against Stevenson's JV squad. Davell has the athleticism to perform at the Varsity level- just needs to polish up the fundamentals.

JV DT

Another North Farmington JV player showing some promise.

Gino's first highlight shows a good getoff as he drives the center backward. He eventually makes the tackle, but Gino could have cut off the RB as he was running into the A gap. Second play, Gino has the best getoff of any of his teammates, and does a great job tracking down the ballcarrier. Love the effort.

Consistent effort, consistent getoff, and consistently low pad level. Three boxes that need to be checked in order to succeed on Varsity. Upgrade that explosiveness and strength, and Gino will be a great Varsity DT/NT.

Jamal has some nice highlights against Farmington.

There are several pass-blocking reps showcased here. 0:35 shows good patience, then great anchor and power, completely eliminating the DE from the play. 0:48 is another solid display of power, as is 1:36 (run block). Then, at 1:13, the DE tries to beat Jamal with speed. Jamal does a great job staying in front of his man and riding him out of the play.

A very valuable player for Oak Park. Against the vast majority of DEs in the OAA Blue, Jamal will be able to do his job very successfully.

Dunlap is inserting life into the Athens offense early in the season. With Dunlap's play, Athens nearly pulled off the upset against a usually great Seaholm team.

Let's start at 0:15. O-Line provides excellent protection, and Dunlap delivers a strike to the corner of the endzone, exposing the lackluster coverage. Next, another perfectly-placed deep ball against what was pretty tight man coverage. 0:32, Dunlap rolls out and delivers a strike on the run to the out-route. 0:37 also shows great improvisation skills.

Dunlap picked apart the Maples secondary during week 1. Honestly, the best QB highlights I've seen in the OAA this season.

I've said it a lot last offseason; I love Bryan's upside at running back. It's been a rocky two weeks for Avondale to begin the season, but Bryan has still put up some good highlights.

0:12 is a phenomenal run against a stout Seaholm defense. The DE immediately finds his way into the backfield, as do a few linebackers. Bryan does not panic, cuts back, and shows off that explosiveness on his way to the sideline. That's a 3-yard loss turned into a 25+-yard explosive gain because of Bryan's vision and explosiveness. Next, 0:30 is an impressive middle screen. Bryan breaks a tackle, and earns a good number of yards on the 2nd and long play.

Not a ton of highlights, but these highlights are very promising. I know Bryan is a great athlete, and I know the upside is as high as any.
