Breakout Potential in Northern Michigan

It's easy to overlook some of our Northern Michigan prospects, but make no mistake about it, there is plenty of potential just waiting to be unlocked! Below are just a few of those that have the potential to break out in 2026.    Wyatt has started to pick up some legitimate interest, most recently picking up an offer from Coach Stuursma and Hope College. Wyatt is a powerful EDGE with the ability to rip and dip and create a ton of chaos. He explodes out of his stance and has the motor to chase down the play from the back side. Both as a run stopper and as a true pas rusher, Metzger has been showing quite a few flashes over the last couple of seasons. 2026 could be the year it all comes together and blows people away.     Brayden had an extremely productive 2025, and possesses all of the tools to explode this fall. He stands tall in the pocket at 6'4, scans the field quickly and gets the ball out in time. He's a dynamic QB that can take a short drop and fire it, or buy time, move the pocket and keep his eyes downfield. His arm strength is there and he is able to push the ball to just about any spot on the field. There's no route he can't hit on the money. He throws a very receiver friendly ball with a tight spiral, and his mechanics are smooth. Be on the lookout for some big-time performances for the TCW gunslinger.     Another underrated gunslinger in the North! Back in March I got the opportunity to go watch him work and came away extremely impressed. He has a great frame already, and he pairs that with a strong arm that allows him to fire it into windows or push the ball downfield for big chunk plays. His footwork is consistent across his film as well as in person, which allows him to be extremely accurate. Between his film and what I saw in person, there's no reason why Lukas should be overlooked. Absolutely one to keep on your radar!     Petoskey WR [player_tooltip player_id='1137352' first='Luke' last='Pike'] is one of the most dangerous weapons in Northern Michigan, particularly as a possession receiver. His film shows plenty of examples of him going up to get jump balls or hauling balls in against tight coverage. He also demonstrates great vision and contact balance on screens. He is able to find gaps, exploit them and at times, just flat out run through weak tackle attempts. With continued work this offseason, I believe he could elevate his game to a whole new level.     The fundamentals and technique have been there all along with Conley, but now the physical tools have started to develop as well. He has put on some weight and improved his overall strength. He is a ruthless run blocker who is able to stay low and chop his legs as he drives his assignment out of the play. He also demonstrated the ability in the passing game to manhandle the pass rusher and drive them into the turf. He's agile enough to pull or block at the 2nd level with relative ease. This is a great candidate for a breakout surprise this season.
