I was only able to see [player_tooltip player_id='1242261' first='Maxwell' last='Azzaline'] involved in defensive line play, serving as the three-tech on Assumption's DL. With the look of a defensive end up front, the three-tech spot makes the most sense for Azzaline, who is one of the bigger players on the Knights' roster. A disruptor in the middle and a stout run defender, Azzaline uses his length as well as his brute strength to rip through opposing offensive lines and disengage would-be blockers. He was one of the primary reasons the Solon run game struggled to get going as much as the passing game.

The lead back for Assumption in a very run-heavy scheme, [player_tooltip player_id='1847510' first='Graham' last='Woods'] took 17 carries for 96 yards and was given the majority of the carries in the second half. In the contest early, trailing just 15-13 part way through the second quarter, the Knights' run-based offensive attack made it difficult to get back in the game once Solon's passing game and its lead began to mount. But, it made sense for Assumption to continue to default to their best player in Woods, who is a solid runner between the tackles.

One of the more productive quarterbacks in the state in week one, [player_tooltip player_id='1241515' first='Eli' last='Kampman'] finished Friday's contest completing 15-of-25 passes for 272 yards and five touchdowns. One of the best passers in the state, Kampman throws a gorgeous deep ball and trusts each of his receivers to make a play on the ball when he throws it long. In the short and intermediate game, Kampman is an accurate passer that throws a tight ball and gets the ball to his receivers in space.

At DB, Kampman showed that he watches film, completely taking away one side of the field and seemingly knowing what was coming at all times when Assumption threw the ball.

A small, playmaking receiver, [player_tooltip player_id='1532898' first='Maddox' last='Kelley'] is a big play waiting to happen at any given time. One of the receivers that Kampman distributes the ball to and allows them to get the yards after catch, Kelley is a merchant when it comes to finding holes in zone defenses. With nine catches for 84 yards and three touchdowns, Kelley is Kampman's safety valve target and the one he goes to in the short field when the Spartans need a first down or a play made.

Kelley possesses excellent ball skills as well, grabbing an interception off a ricocheted ball that bounced in his vicinity in the third quarter. He came down with it, which ultimately gave Solon one of their several scoring drives.

On said ensuing drive, Kampman dropped back to pass on third and long, proceeding to launch a deep pass in the direction of Kaden Hoeper. The wide receiver and defensive back hybrid tracked the ball downfield, went up and grabbed the pass over the head of the Assumption defender like a rebound, hauled it in and ran the rest of the way for the score. One of Hoeper's two receiving touchdowns on the evening, he and Kampman connected for 80 yards on that particular pass. Hoeper finished the evening with five catches for 174 yards and two scores.

Like Kelley, Hoeper is a target that Kampman can default to when he's under pressure and trust to go up and get passes. With those two receivers at his disposal, Kampman may lead Solon to being one of the top offenses in 3A.
