It was a match-up of #2 teams in Class A-1 and A-2 respectively as Pawhuska hosted Woodland. The Huskies got out to a dominant start in the first two quarters and ultimately rolled to a 44-12 victory. They took down the A-2 defending champs and have a ton of momentum as they turn the page and head into district play. The defense played with relentless intensity and the offense could not be slowed down. The Huskies jumped out to a massive halftime lead. But both teams played a penalty-plagued second half that also featured plenty of missed tackles. So for both Pawhuska and Woodland, there is plenty to work on moving into district play. Below, we take a look at five standouts from Pawhuska and two more from Woodland. We also have a link to our full game highlights on our YouTube channel with postgame thoughts from head coach Matt Hennesy.

[player_tooltip player_id='1670662' first='Dane' last='Jensen'] - Junior Linebacker - Pawhuska

Pawhuska junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1670662' first='Dane' last='Jensen'] got the game ball from head coach Matt Hennesy following the game and it was easy to see why. Jensen is one half of a legitimate two-headed monster for the Huskies at linebacker. Jensen was constantly in the backfield, terrorizing Woodland's quarterback and impact their rushing attack. Jensen also impacted the other two phases of the game. Offensively, he had a touchdown in the first half on the ground and he either blocked or helped facilitate the block on a punt on special teams. This two-headed monster is the real deal, especially at the Class A-1 level. There won't be many opponents that can stop both of them.

[player_tooltip player_id='1626571' first='Jaston' last='Terry'] - Senior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Woodland

It was a tough night for the defending A-2 champs but Woodland had some bright spots on both sides of the ball. Coming into this week, senior [player_tooltip player_id='1626571' first='Jaston' last='Terry'] was one of our players to watch and he definitely lived up to that on Friday night. He was without a doubt the best player for the Cougars on Friday and he will more than likely play that role throughout the rest of the season. Whether he was lined up at wide receiver, in the backfield or anywhere else on the field, he was able to make plays. The most impressive part of his performance was the fact that Pawhuska did quite a bit to take him away and he was still able to find ways to get open or make a big play.

[player_tooltip player_id='806165' first='Jaxon' last='Arnett'] - Senior Offensive/Defensive Lineman - Pawhuska

Pawhuska's defense was dominant throughout the night and it all started with their push on the line of scrimmage. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='806165' first='Jaxon' last='Arnett'] was a big part of that and he was able to get into the backfield and cause havoc multiple times, especially in the first half when the Huskies needed to make stops. Arnett also turned around and just like on defense, he set the tone for the offensive line as the Huskies were able to move the ball up and down the field and continue to light up the scoreboard. The Huskies got out to an incredibly fast start and it began with the push that they were getting up front. Arnett is a big part of what the Huskies do on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1836665' first='Jenson' last='Snodgrass'] - Sophomore Athlete - Pawhuska

The Huskies had quite a few players stand out on the offensive side of the ball. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1836665' first='Jenson' last='Snodgrass'] was a player that impressed us a few different times throughout the game. Snodgrass is a shorter offensive weapon but he was bouncing off Woodland defenders and picking up extra yards and early in the game, he bounced off defenders and into the end zone. Snodgrass was just one part of the Pawhuska attack but it's clear that he's going to be a big part of what the Huskies do on the offensive side of the ball. And Snodgrass showed that he's going to be a problem for opponents when he gets the ball into the open field.

[player_tooltip player_id='935005' first='Kane' last='Foreman'] - Senior Quarterback - Pawhuska

Pawhuska senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='935005' first='Kane' last='Foreman'] didn't have his best game on Friday night but he showed signs that he can help lead this team to a potential state championship this season. Foreman moved to Pawhuska this offseason and for a first year starter in a new system, it doesn't look like that. It should also be pointed out that Foreman is not only on a new team but he's played 8-man football the last few years. He was in complete control of the Pawhuska offense and did a great job of spreading the ball around. There is no doubt that the Huskies have multiple playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and Foreman has utilized all of them.

[player_tooltip player_id='1528947' first='Khamdyn' last='Patterson'] - Senior Linebacker - Woodland

Woodland has been missing arguably their best player on the defensive side of the ball so having senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1528947' first='Khamdyn' last='Patterson'] return to the lineup definitely gave the Cougars some juice. Patterson played a very rare position combination on Friday night. He started at left guard on offense and linebacker on defense. But in a game full of physical and hard-hitting defense, Patterson was right at the top of the list in terms of the hardest hitters. Despite the loss, having Patterson back in the lineup is going to be a big plus for the Cougars as they shift gears and focus on district play. He'll end up being one of the top linebackers in Class A-2 this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1325101' first='Vann' last='Wildcat'] - Junior Running Back/Linebacker - Pawhuska

We mentioned that two-headed monster at linebacker earlier and junior [player_tooltip player_id='1325101' first='Vann' last='Wildcat'] is the other part of that duo. Wildcat has been so productive for the Huskies in the last two seasons and he came into this year as one of the top two-way players to watch in Class A-1. In Friday night's win, Wildcat showcased his ability as a running back and as a linebacker. Offensively, he had some special runs, including a very impressive touchdown run where he shed defenders with ease and even made some open field moves. Defensively, he was consistently hitting the holes and meeting the ball carriers in the gap. Wildcat lived up to the hype and joins Jensen in that nightmare duo for the rest of Class A-1.
