Five 2028 RBs To Keep An Eye On

Yesterday, we looked at five 2028 quarterbacks to watch out for this season. Now, it's time for the running backs. I've chosen five running backs who are different in their own ways, but have been productive.   A few are bigger, downhill backs, while others are all-purpose athletes who offer a lot to an offense. Regardless, every one of them has a chance to break out in 2025, then develop into some of the top backs in the state through the next two years.    The Tyner Academy tailback is an outstanding player with excellent skills. He's a do-it-all RB who thrives running the football, but can also hurt you in the receiving game. McNealy is a compact player at 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds who uses his build well to weave through traffic and fight for extra yards.   He has excellent vision and twitch when toting the rock, while showing patience to allow running lanes to open up. He checks all the boxes for a finesse runner, but he's also strong and can lower his shoulder if necessary. McNealy isn't afraid to run through somebody, and that physicality makes him a full-package player.     After a breakout freshman campaign in 2024, where Bangura recorded over 1,000 all-purpose yards and eight scores, he looks to build on that in his sophomore season. So far, the 2028 running back has done that. He's an all-around player used as Middle Tennessee Christian's workhorse.   He's incredibly elusive and has nice vision everywhere on the field, whether at the line of scrimmage or down the field when he's trying to evade tacklers. His footwork is solid, with a blend of impressive jump cuts. Like McNealy, he's strong and physical enough to run over somebody, which is the finishing touch to his already solid game.     The Blaze running back is a solid sophomore player who could break out as the 2025 campaign progresses. He's electric as a tailback with actual track speed, while showcasing nice footwork and vision.   There are a lot of talented pieces on this Blackman team, but Nance offers explosiveness out of the backfield. I like his cuts and ability to navigate through running lanes, which helps him use his tremendous speed.     Mitchell is an unknown running back prospect, but he stands out to me due to his production. The sophomore RB has rushed for 802 yards on 11.1 YPC while scoring eight touchdowns in three games.   He's on the smaller side, but makes up for it with his blazing speed and vision. The Forrest tailback will take the smaller gains, but if you give him a lane, he'll take it to the house. Mitchell has some of the best speed and acceleration in the class, but also impresses with his vision and cuts.     The big running back is a bruiser at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds. He can run through and carry defenders, but is relatively swift for his size. He runs well while having solid vision and cuts to weave through traffic. Taylor moves well in open space and knows when to hit the hole or bounce outside to gain extra yardage.   The West Carroll tailback put together an outstanding week 1 performance where he ran for 346 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-7 win over Gibson County. He'll only continue to improve, but Taylor has everything you look for in a good high school rusher.
