Early Season Offensive Stars Pt 1

There has been a ton of tape we have gone through from the first four weeks of the season.  Check out some of the offensive prospects who have shined!   QB [player_tooltip player_id='427474' first='Jadon' last='Wilson'] (East St. Louis – 2028)   Wilson came in for some key snaps against Bishop Gorman (NV) and Alton in weeks 3 and 4.  The talented sophomore went 9/16 for 177 yards and 5 TDs.  Wilson is a long and lanky passer that has deep arm strength.  Accuracy down the field with touch.  Zip on passes over the middle giving his pass catchers room to do damage after the catch.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='1687847' first='Jaylen' last='Newkirk'] (Grayslake North – 2028)   The 6'1” quarterback is another sophomore that is making noise.  Newkirk shows good arm strength and can scramble with his legs while still looking downfield to make throws.  Good athlete who can use his legs running on his own when needed.  Three quarter slot release with a lot of arm whip on the throw with good velocity.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='214234' first='Jayden' last='Ellington'] (Althoff – 2027)   Ellington is one of the most electric athletes in the state.  His ability to beat defenders with his legs is unmatched in the state.  It is Michael Vick like at times.  Extends plays with his legs finding receivers on scramble plays.  As a passer he is at his best when hitting his back foot and making quick throws getting it to his playmakers to do damage.    QB [player_tooltip player_id='971616' first='Marion' last='Persich'] (La Salle Peru – 2028)   Persich is one of the top sophomore quarterbacks in the 2028 class.  Through four games he has 548 passing yards, 328 rushing yards, and 12 total touchdowns.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='801989' first='Camden' last='Maniatis'] (Andrew – 2026)   Good running QB out of triple option.  Weaves through the defense downfield on runs.  Best as a passer on shorter passes over the middle.  Gets into the endzone on QB sneaks.  Probably projects at the next level best as an athlete or running back.   QB Jack Beetham (Yorkville – 2026)   The senior 6'3” passer has let it rip for 730 yards and a 9-0 TD to INT ratio leading his team to a 4-0 record to start the season.   QB Joey Lampignano (St. Viator – 2026)   Lampignano can thread the needle in the redzone through windows for scores.  Also showcases nice arm strength downfield.  Would like to see him not throw fading back so much.  When he steps into his throws they have a ton of zip on them.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='1585262' first='Dalton' last='Oakman'] (East Peoria – 2026)   Oakman is a 5'11” quarter back that is 43/69 threw the air for 765 yards and 11 touchdowns through the first four weeks.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='1615582' first='AJ' last='Rayford'] (Glenbard West – 2027)   Works well in play action hitting his back foot and letting it rip downfield.  Also has nice zip on intermediate passes fitting it nice holes finding his pass catchers.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='401613' first='Karter' last='Krutsinger'] (Bishop McNamara – 2026)   Creative with the ball throwing from different angles.  Pushes the ball on intermediate passes.  Works well off play action.     QB [player_tooltip player_id='1187171' first='Nigel' last='Gooden'] (Cahokia – 2027)   The 6'2” junior quarterback is a fluid athlete with good arm strength down the field.  Passes extremely well on the move and can also take it down and run on his own when needed.  Moves well in the pocket and throws it super well over the middle deep.   QB Ryne Sheppard (Maroa Forsyth – 2026)   Sheppard is a 5'11” 190 pound signal caller that through the first three weeks has posted a 4-0 record.  He has passed for 1,045 yards and 14 touchdowns along with 211 rushing yards and 8 TDs on the ground.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='1894787' first='Colton' last='Miller'] (Wheaton Academy – 2027)   The junior quarterback has thrown for 729 yards and has 9 total touchdowns while throwing for a completion percentage of 67%.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='1688294' first='Jake' last='Yost'] (DePaul Prep – 2028)   Yost has thrown for 783 yards through the air for the Rams in weeks 1-4 so far!  Impressive start for sophomore.   QB [player_tooltip player_id='992492' first='Dominic' last='Vita'] (Providence Catholic – 2028)   Vita has led his team to a 3-1 record by racking up 798 all purpose yards and 8 touchdowns.  Another sophomore to track!   QB Luke Vanderwiel (Prairie Ridge – 2026)   This 5'9” running QB has 577 yards through four games on the ground on 72 carries.  He has also thrown for 228 yards and racked up 13 total touchdowns.   RB Zaire Kyle (Marian Catholic – 2029)   The freshman has showed some sparks on the JV level.  Smooth runner that is getting through the line, breaking it outside, and turning on the speed!   RB [player_tooltip player_id='1335746' first='Marcus' last='Hazell'] (Marion – 2026)   Smaller back that runs with patience and gets the most out of every carry.  Potential as a pass catcher out of the backfield.   RB [player_tooltip player_id='1907260' first='Anthony' last='Catron'] (St. Patrick – 2026)   Catron is a 6'0” senior running back that runs up right and with a lot of speed.  Has a lot of juice with the rock in his hands.  Runs well in between the tackles and breaking it out to the perimeter where he turns on the burners running down the sideline.   RB [player_tooltip player_id='1475855' first='Joshua' last='Isreal Williams'] (Walter Payton – 2027)   The 5'7” 175 pound back is quick and elusive with the ball in his hands.  Bounces off defenders and is tough for them to find in traffic.  Makes quick cuts to the outside.  Like the speed and game breaking ability.   RB [player_tooltip player_id='1347116' first='Joe' last='Salvino'] (Benet – 2026)   The Benet running back has carried the ball 57 times for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns.   RB Julian Rodriguez (Plainfield North – 2027)   Strong and stocky back with game breaking ability.  Gets to the outside and down the sideline.  Runs with a nice combination of power and speed out of their three back backfield.  Nice hands on swing pass.  Like him even more as a runner out of the shot gun or the I formation getting downhill.    RB [player_tooltip player_id='1660067' first='Julius' last='May'] (Bishop McNamara – 2026)   May has 39 carries for 540 yards and 12 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.  Defensively he has racked up 12 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble.   RB Xavier Owusu-Gyan (Olney – 2028)   The sophomore back isn't the biggest at 5'11”, but he still lays the hammer at the end of his runs.  Follows his blocks and has some shiftiness in the hole.  Like the speed.   RB [player_tooltip player_id='1670096' first='Jordan' last='Callaway'] (Bishop McNamara – 2026)   Callaway is a running back and linebacker.  As a back he does a nice job following his blockers and bursting when on the second level.  Finishes runs with power running over defensive backs.   RB Joseph Wehbe (Glenbrook South – 2027)   The Glenbrook South running back follows his blocks well and has downfield speed.  Tough and elusive with the ball in his hands.  Smooth cuts not losing speed running the ball.    FB [player_tooltip player_id='401622' first='Logan' last='Abrams'] (Cary Grove – 2026)   Abrams is the definition of an old school football player.  He is a TANK!  The full back racked up 414 yards on the ground and 4 touchdowns in weeks 3-4 along with a pair of sacks!
