August Recap: Defensive Line and EDGE rushers

Let's take a look at the defensive front.    Krew has been fantastic this year. He is explosive off the line, his physicality and quick hands are giving his lineman fits and he's been doubled, chipped, and plays are being ran away from him and he's still been productive in creating pressure and making plays. He will be a multi year, Power-Four starter. He has elite skills and it'll translate to being an early NFL Draft pick when the time comes. He allows the rest of the defense to make plays. He's an elite talent and he's been effective on the offensive side of the ball as well.     Juni has been exceptional this season and it was highlighted in the season opener when he had six sacks and singlehandedly stymied the Granger offense. He is quick off the line, moves well laterally, has good play strength and has active hands. He can win with speed and power.     Dieter consistently disrupts the flow of the opposing offense and can be lined up inside or outside. He is quick twitched, great off the line, and moves exceptionally well. He is a phyiscal player with quick hands and blends his moves beautifully from one play to the next and always has his lineman on his heels.     Savery is an exceptional EDGE rusher and will wreck havoc on an opposing teams gameplan. He is electric off the line, and has great bend at the hip and closing speed. He disengages from his block well and he shows good strength and physicality. He's an elite player who will be a Power-Four starter.     Havili is an exciting interior defensive lineman. He has great size and uses that frame to his advantage. He moves well, advances his positioning, and presents with good strength and physicality. He's a player that does well as a run stuffing defensive tackle and will disrupt pass plays by getting into the back field. He's a player with a lot of talent.     Tauvao is an excellent prospect. He has great size and frame already and as a defensive tackle disrupts the game. He moves well overall and has a good lateral quickness to his game. His physicality is tremendous and he does a great job at creating pressure and forcing double teams. He's an elite prospect and will garner multiple Power-Four offers. Great traits and skill set.     Mac is an exciting EDGE rusher and he is quick off the line, has good bend at the hip and the play strength to fight off bigger linemen. He showcases good technique and he is fundamentally sound. He'll find a way onto the field on Saturdays.     Willoughby is a top-tier athlete. He's been a two-way player this year, but his home will be on the defensive side of the ball. He has the size and frame to play anywhere along the defensive lince but he is best suited as an EDGE rusher. He is explosive off the line, has good hip bend and will gain leverage over his blocker. He possesses strong, active hands and is a physical player. He has good overall speed and does a good job of disengaging from his block and pursuing the ball carrier. He's honed his craft and has been an exceptional EDGE rusher who does well creating pressure and forcing opposing teams to have to chip and double him.     Uhila is the best player on the Maple Mountain team. He's an excelllent player and opposing teams know that and gameplan around him and Uhila still finds ways to cause chaos during the game.     Love has good size and is a run stuffing defensive tackle. He does well occupying his space and will advance his position. His ability to create pressure makes it difficult for interior offensive linemen and he will bring pressure up the middle. He's also being used in short yardage/goal line situations as a runner to get the tough yards.     Castro is arguably one of the best players on the team and the two-way player shows great athleticism. He has good size and will continue to grow into his frame. I've seen him live this offseason and as a rusher, is good off the line, he has good quickness and presents active hands and can win with speed and power. He does a good job disrupting an opposing teams gameplan and he is someone that will become a high-end EDGE rusher in the 2027 class.     Brown is a consistent performer and shows up week in and week out. He can be used as an interior rusher or moved outside for a bigger scheme and fit. He has good strength and physicality and will use that to his advantage, along with his hands to fight off his blocker. He does well as a run stuffing lineman and has the short area burst and quickness to bring pressure from the inside and slip past his lineman.     Wyatt has been excellent for Juab and bringing pressure. He is good off the line, has good leverages and has the hip fluidity and quickness to win against his lineman. He has quick hands and does well to get his lineman off balanced. He'll look to keep his momentum going into region play.     Tagg is quick off the line and he moves well laterally. He has the hip fluidity and quickness to get by his lineman. His short area burst allows him to have his blocker out of position, and from there he can use his strength to throw him off. He does an excellent job of closing in and creating pressure on the signal caller. He should continue his momentum in region play.    That was our look at some key defensive lineman and edge rushers during the first month of the season.
