He is a dynamic offensive weapon who can make plays as a wide receiver and as a running back. He is excellent at making defenders miss and always gaining extra yards. He is also a physical player who runs through contact well. As a defender, that's where I love his film. His ability to fly around the field and make plays against the offense in both the run and pass games is impressive. He is an excellent tackler who tackles offensive players in the open field at a high level. Pines is a game breaker on both sides of the ball and has a bright future. His ability to play as a slot receiver and as a safety is impressive. I really like how he moves as an athlete. As a receiver, he is excellent at catching the ball and making yards after the catch. His ability to explode past defenders in the open field is impressive. He also shows a good ability to catch the ball in traffic between defenders. Then, as a defender, he is a difference maker at safety. What is impressive is that he can play in the box and make plays in or near the line of scrimmage or when he plays as a deep safety. When he reads the play and attacks against a run play, he is a heat-seeking missile, making plays. His effort is also amazing, as he is constantly chasing plays all over the field. The other thing he has grown as a player is his ability to play in pass coverage. He has gotten better from last season and is much improved as a linebacker in pass coverage. As a defensive back, he is flashing good coverage skills. His ability to lock down wide receivers from his cornerback position is impressive. He also has excellent ball skills as he constantly breaks up passes. He also has an interception this season. The biggest area of growth I have seen from him is his ability to tackle. He is an excellent open-field tackler. He is also making an impact as a returner. I saw him return a kickoff for a long gain. It was impressive to see him use his speed to run past defenders in the kickoff unit. His ability to fire off the ball and block defensive tackles is impressive. He rarely, if ever, misses a block as he is a consistent blocker, especially in the run game. The best part I like about his film is how athletic he is. He does a great job of pulling and blocking from the center position, which is unheard of for a high school center. He also shows his athletic ability by going out and blocking in front of screen passes and blocking downfield. I also feel like he could play as an offensive guard or tackle as well.
