The stars are aligning for junior TE [player_tooltip player_id='1699288' first='Zach' last='Wolfe'] to have a big season for Elkhorn North this fall. The 6'4", 205-pound tight end had a limited role as a sophomore but had several flashes as he recorded 11 receptions for 93 yards and showed off his blocking skills. Zach is currently listed as a tight end, but has potential as a Flex TE/WR hybrid player, depending on his continued physical development. His taller frame allows him to take advantage of size mismatches against smaller defenders, and he has the strength to "outphysical" his opponents at the catch point. Wolfe also impressed with his toughness, especially when making plays over the middle of the field, showing he can take on contact and stay upright to fight for more yardage. Good burst after the catch. A big reason Zach really stood out was his physicality as a blocker, making him a huge asset in the running game. Wolfe proved his willingness to bury his nose in a defender's chest and move them off the ball using great technique, hand placement, and leg drive. The Wolves have produced a ton of high-level prospects in the past few seasons (with a handful currently on the roster), and it looks like Zach could be next up!

North Star safety [player_tooltip player_id='722336' first='Kobe' last='Allen'] took a big step in year two as he continues to establish himself as one of the top DBs in his class. Kobe had a productive season, recording 58 tackles, two TFLs, two forced fumbles, and an interception. What stands out the most about Kobe's game is how rangy he is from that deep safety position. He demonstrates the ability to get depth in coverage, effectively eliminating big plays over top and covering from sideline to sideline. Allen does a great job reading the QB's eyes and displays an explosive burst when breaking on the ball. Kobe isn't just a cover safety, showing a willingness to step into the box to help out against the run with the closing speed to get there in a hurry. Allen flashed solid tackling ability with the strength and technique to make secure tackles in the open field, which is always great to see in a DB. Great motor keeps him in pursuit from snap to whistle. Overall, Kobe is a great athlete who could also see a rise in offensive touches with some graduations and departures on that side of the ball.
After graduating a great class, the Sky Hawks are going to need some youngsters to step up this fall, and junior [player_tooltip player_id='1086191' first='Beckham' last='Werner'] looks ready to take on a bigger role. Werner ended his sophomore season with 22 tackles, two TFLs, and two sacks as he helped Skutt Catholic claim the Class B championship. The biggest thing that stands out about Beckham when watching tape is his intense motor and non-stop pursuit of the ball. Werner was consistently near the ball, even when coming from the backside of the play or when having to hawk down backs 10-15 yards downfield, he was right in the mix. He plays with a mean streak that you can see with his violent use of hands to disengage from blocks and with his physicality when he gets to the ball carrier. Werner does a good job getting off the ball quickly and keeps his hands ready to strike at any point. Beckham also showed that he can set the edge to prevent any big runs to the outside. Good pad level when engaged and strong leg drive to force blockers off their spot. Beckham is also listed as a TE, so keep an eye out for him to possibly make an impact on both sides of the ball.

Despite playing in a deep receiver room last season, [player_tooltip player_id='1616939' first='Joe' last='Sullivan'] was still able to make a consistent impact as the WR3 on the offense. Sullivan hauled in 30 receptions for 416 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore. Joe is a smooth operator on the field, using his fluid route running to weave through traffic and be a threat at all levels of the field. Sullivan has a great sense for identifying coverages and does a good job filling in the soft spots in the defense. Joe also demonstrated his ability to beat man coverage by threatening vertically, attacking his opponent's leverage, and securing a clean break at the top of the route. He's very reliable with his hands, showing he can hang on to contested catches and has the concentration to complete the catch process. Sullivan also displayed some nice twitch after the catch with the ability to shake defenders in the open field, then burst for a big gain. Underrated blocker on the perimeter. The Gretna offense looks to be one of the more explosive in Class B, with Joe and the receiving crew primed for big years.

There's another Kaiser playing linebacker for the Red Raiders, and he looks ready to make a name for himself in year three. The younger of the two Sidney Kaiser brothers, Kale, is an interesting prospect who flew under the radar as a sophomore, recording 27 tackles and an interception. Kale is a tall, lengthier linebacker at 6'3", 185 pounds, with room to continue filling out his frame in the next few seasons. When watching Kale's tape, I see a high-IQ linebacker who sees and calls things out pre-snap and is sharp when reading his keys and diagnosing the play. He breaks on the ball and fills his gaps quickly while showing the toughness to meet ball carriers in the hole. Another part of Kale's game that stood out was his ability to take on blocks at the line of scrimmage, as he showed that he can be physical and not give up ground at the point of contact before shedding the block to continue his pursuit. He flashes good lateral quickness with sideline-to-sideline range and is fluid in coverage. Keep an eye out for this playmaker out in the Panhandle!
