In this feature, I will highlight five senior prospects who I think have the tape, production, and work ethic to make an impact at the next level and should be receiving more attention during this recruiting cycle. These five prospects and several more are still available for you to continue building your 2026 recruiting boards.

The Omaha Central Eagles featured a gritty team last season that battled and fought their way to a hard-earned playoff spot. One player who is a physical embodiment of that is offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1395243' first='Kelvaun' last='Gordon'] who stepped up nicely at tackle (saw tape at LT and RT), impressing as a mauler in the run game and his mobility overall. Gordon is someone who brings a spark to the offensive line with his aggressiveness and physicality at the point of attack. He has a solid frame at 6'4" and 280 pounds with a lengthy reach and heavy hands that help him extend and explode through a defender's chest. Kelvaun's lateral mobility also stood out as he can quickly climb to seal off second level defenders and has good footwork when engaged in pass protection. Good use of leverage and powerful leg drive help him overwhelm defenders and often result in pancake blocks for Kelvaun. Gordon is starting to move up some recruiting boards, reporting his first D1 offer from Grambling State. A lot of the Eagle's success is going to be based off how well the big guys upfront can create lanes for their RB and protect their QB, but they should be in good hands with Kelvaun in the mix.

With some big names graduating from the Millard South defense, having last season's tackling leader in LB [player_tooltip player_id='402165' first='Teagan' last='Urban'] will be huge. Teagan played like a man on a mission last season as he tallied 81 tackles, 17.5 TFLs, two sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception despite only playing eight games. The biggest thing that stands out to me about Teagan's tape is his motor and the intensity he plays with, which is exactly what you want from your linebackers. The next thing is his football IQ and how quick he is to read and diagnose plays. Urban has a very twitchy trigger, especially when he keys the run and immediately breaks on the ball. He has the speed and range to go from sideline to sideline and can crash downhill in a flash. Urban also more than holds his own in coverage, showing great instincts and fluidity. He can quickly pick up crossing receivers or identify route patterns and disrupt them by lurking in space or sticking right to the receiver's pocket. Strong, physical tackler who can take down ball carriers in 1v1/open field situations. Urban projects well as the smart, inside linebacker who can be a leader of the defense. Teagan holds offers from Minnesota State-Mankato, Wayne State, Sioux Falls, Drake, Nebraska-Kearney, and Missouri Western. Huge upside here!

Elkhorn South returns a great amount of talent from last season, including senior [player_tooltip player_id='1617622' first='Cameron' last='Wolf'], who had a standout year at DB. Watching Cameron's tape, I was impressed with his willingness to be physical from the safety position, showing that he can step into the box to help out against the run and can be a sure tackler at the point of contact. He does a good job reading the play and can either plant and explode downhill to sniff out the run or flip his hip to get to his coverage responsibility. Another way that Cameron's mean streak showed was in his ball skills, especially at the catch point, where he showed no hesitation to challenge them when going up for the ball or deliver a well-timed hit to force the incompletion. He pursues and tracks the ball very well, making him a threat to make a play from anywhere on the field. Cameron earned an offer from Southwest Minnesota State earlier this spring and is sure to see that list grow with a strong senior campaign.

Lincoln Lutheran's [player_tooltip player_id='1113971' first='Trenton' last='Ernst'] is a player who I believe should be receiving more looks after two seasons of solid production for the Warriors. As a junior, Trenton stood out as a two-way star, recording 53 receptions, 691 yards, three receiving touchdowns, a passing touchdown, 30 tackles, and five interceptions. I don't have a full tape from Trenton's junior year, but from what I saw in clips and from previous seasons, he is a twitchy receiver who can attack all levels of the field. Despite being considered "undersized" by some recruiting standards, it's hard to deny his feel for the game and natural playmaking ability. He runs good routes where he nails the details with precise footwork and sharp breaks. Ernst is someone you can rely on to move the chains in a tight spot and find creative ways to use him in the offense. Defensively, he is a very "heads-up" player who does a great job reading the QB and can attack the ball in the air to force turnovers. Look for the Warriors to bounce back in 2025 with Trenton playing a major role.

Back in charge for the St. Mary Cardinals is senior [player_tooltip player_id='488106' first='Gage' last='Hedstrom'] who has emerged as one of the top dual-threats in 8-man. As a junior, Hedstrom racked up well over 3,000 total yards after recording 1,659 passing yards, 1,434 rushing yards, 700+ return yards, 29 passing touchdowns, 25 rushing touchdowns, three kickoff return touchdowns, and a punt return for a touchdown. Regardless of whether coaches recruit him at QB, Gage has more than shown that he has the arm talent to be a signal-caller at the next level. Hedstrom has a strong arm that can push the ball deep and accurately with solid placement on his throws. I was also impressed with Gage's ability to read defenses as he moves through his progressions when his first look isn't available and can extend plays outside of the pocket. Once he finds an open target, he is quick to get the ball out and shows he can fit his throws through tight windows. Very good athlete when he decides to keep the ball. He does a good job finding a hole and exploding through it with enough speed to break away from defenses. Tough to bring down on initial contact. Hedstrom holds an in-state offer from Midland. With Gage slinging the ball and the weapons around him, this could be a big year for the Cards!
