PRNY Spotlight on Underdogs

<p>A spotlight can shine quickly, and it has on these underdogs who have shown their skills on tape. These players have the drive, competitiveness, and strength to win on the field. Qualities that make them bright prospects for colleges. As some approach their final seasons and some continue to develop.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="text-decoration: underline">TE's</span></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1692334' first='Aiden' last='Jorgensen'] is a smooth and confident TE who produced at a high level in both the run and pass games.<strong> </strong>On film, he shows a physical edge as a run blocker consistently driving defenders off the line with aggression and effort. His punishing yards-after-catch ability stands out, as defenders often hesitate to bring him down on contact. Whether aligned in the slot or on the line of scrimmage, Jorgensen runs screens, verticals, and post routes with fluidity and purpose. He certainly can develop into a polished modern TE.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="text-decoration: underline">RB's</span></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1513305' first='Connor' last='McDonald'] is a special player with the football in his hands. The spotlight is going to be on him this season to make big-time plays as he did in sectionals. McDonald has blazing fast speed after the catch and the elusiveness to make defenders miss. Finding that open space in routes was critical in his technique. To add, many stick routes were utilized out of the slot receiver role to assist the QB. Stretching the middle of the field and adding value as a versatile piece lining up as a receiving HB out of the backfield is in his toolbox as well. Field vision is a huge component in making him an explosive component in the backfield.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1727233' first='Jaeden' last='White'] is an athletic RB and leader that will be entering into his final season. White has been a team captain for multiple years and displayed powerful traits on film. White will be looking to carry over his leadership and competitiveness. Even more, the lateral agility to get in and out of holes was displayed. Showing the acceleration and top-end speed to break to the outside gaps was evident on outside pitches. While he's shown the ability to rip off long gains, making more explosive plays needs to be a consistent part of his game to take the next step.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span style="text-decoration: underline">DE's:</span></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1607775' first='Jayden' last='Peters'] is a young and developing junior from Rush Henrietta High School that will have a huge spotlight on him this upcoming season at the DE position. Formerly, the physical nature and pass rush ability that he displayed coming off the LOS was outstanding. Peters has fast hands and the ability to turn offensive linemen around with multiple moves. Attacking in the run game and setting the edge was a critical component that stood out on multiple occasions. Breaking through the LOS to swat passes down did as well. There will be an increased level of attention on Sprung, as his role will be looking to increase as a junior. By the same token, the spotlight and ability to make high-pointing interceptions on tape flashed. Making more of those turnover-worthy plays will be a developmental point to focus on at the SS position.
