As the clock hit midnight on Monday morning and the MHSAA football season officially began, the Grand Blanc Bobcats took the field and turned the page to the next chapter of GB football. I got the chance to see the work being put in to build on the success of 2024.

The 2024 season for Grand Blanc was largely a success. After a devastating 2 point loss to a top ranked Mona Shores team, the Bobcats reeled off 7 straight wins, notching victories over the likes of Saginaw Heritage, Lansing Everett and Davison along the way, before eventually falling to a scrappy Romeo team in week 9. Grand Blanc won their district with relative ease, including an impressive victory over Oxford, before dropping their Regional Final game against Rochester Adams.

In 2025, the outlook for Grand Blanc should be extremely encouraging. Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id='909904' first='Jake' last='Morrow'] is back at the helm, something head coach Kaleb Forr thinks is crucial for their success. "When you have a kid like [player_tooltip player_id='909904' first='Jake' last='Morrow'] starting at quarterback, that helps. Super talented, one of the best kids in the state at quarterback" Forr told reporters on Monday morning. Morrow was incredibly efficient last season. He was able to hit his guys in stride, not force things and made some plays with his legs when asked to.

When asked about goals for this season, Morrow wasn't shy at all about it. "I want to be a better version of myself this year than I was last year, and I'm going for Mr. Football this year, so I'm making my campaign for that." Honestly, he probably won't be too far off. The talent is there for him, and his weapons around him will help him succeed as well.

Running the ball to establish the run will be a focus for the Bobcats in 2025. In the backfield for GB will be 2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1525577' first='Jeremiah' last='Coleman'], an All-League and All-Region guy for Grand Blanc last season. On top of what he presents on offense, he's also an incredibly dynamic kick and punt returner who has great vision and breakaway speed. With a couple of other weapons sprinkled in, the backfield should be formidable all season long.

Up front on the offensive line, the Bobcats return 3 starters from last season. [player_tooltip player_id='1148724' first='Jack' last='Stewart'], a nasty lineman who can get out and move in space and has done a great job of working on his pass blocking, along with 6'2 275-pound [player_tooltip player_id='1681037' first='Jack' last='Walker'] and 6'3 260-pound Joe Asperger who will anchor the line as well.

Guys like [player_tooltip player_id='916913' first='Caseton' last='Sendry'] will give the Bobcats their vertical ability out wide. Sendry was able to garner over 800 yards last season and was a constant threat to take the lid off the defense. [player_tooltip player_id='913865' first='Micah' last='Kemp'] is another dynamic player, adding more of an open field threat and really stressing a defense's ability to cover sideline to sideline.

On the defensive side of the ball, Grand Blanc will be strong in their front 7. A prospect that people should have an eye on heading into the season is 2027 DL [player_tooltip player_id='1685016' first='Braylen' last='Toins']. He had a productive offseason and had some standout performances at camps along the way. He's big, he's strong and has the ability to put multiple moves on to get into the backfield and be disruptive. Another guy I will be watching closely is [player_tooltip player_id='1160991' first='Robert' last='Giles']. I have always known him for the offensive side of the ball, but Coach Forr has mentioned him a couple of times playing LB in the middle of this GB defense. I'm super excited to see the kind of leaps he makes this season.

Grand Blanc will get started in 2025 the same way they did in 2024, with an out of conference tilt against Mona Shores. Other notable games on the schedule include clashes with Traverse City West, Romeo and Lansing Everett in non conference play. Conference play doesn't get any easier. The Bobcats will be battle tested against conference foes like Saginaw Heritage and Davison who are both gunning for deep playoff runs this fall. This team will know a lot about itself early, and will have no weeks off as they navigate their brutal schedule in 2025.
