The Tuttle Tigers came into the 2024 football season expecting to contend for a state championship. They have routinely been one of the top teams in Class 4A but they had quite the influx of talent prior to last season and it made for a very interesting team to follow. And they came out of the gates swinging. They beat Guthrie in the final minute of the game to kick off their season and that was a Blue Jay team that played for the 5A state title. They followed it up with wins over Newcastle and Noble to start the season 3-0. From there, that dominant play would just ramp up and they never really slowed down. They would win district game after district game by 20+ points and then they had a week eight showdown with Blanchard. They responded with a 28-7 victory, eliminating any doubt that they were one of the top contenders in Class 4A. They ran away with the district title, winning all of their district contests by 20+ points. They beat Elk City and Hilldale with ease in the first two rounds, setting up a semifinal rematch with district foe Bethany. The Tigers punched their ticket to the state championship game with an emphatic 24-0 win over Bethany and their sights then locked on top-ranked Elgin in a state title game that featured two undefeated and very powerful teams. In a state championship game that had a lot of hype coming into the contest, it certainly lived up to it with a back and forth and close game throughout. But in the end, the Tigers would have to settle for silver, losing 29-22 to the Owls as Elgin captured their first state title in school history. But for any team that knocks on the door of that state championship, when you come up short, you come back stronger. And for the Tuttle Tigers, they appear to be hungrier than ever to raise that gold ball in December.

2025 OUTLOOK

There is plenty of reason for Tuttle fans to be excited about this team's potential going into the 2025 football season. Six starters are back on the offensive side of the ball for a unit that averaged north of 40 points per game. And it starts with the quarterback position as they return the best pure quarterback in Class 4A and one of the top signal callers in the state, regardless of class. And he's not alone in the backfield as Tuttle will return a 1,500-yard rusher at running back. That, along with several returning offensive linemen will give them an advantage over just about everyone on their schedule from an offensive perspective. They do lose their two top receivers and both signed with D1 programs so that's not easy production to replace but the Tigers are confident with the guys they have coming up. Defensively, Tuttle will bring back five starters on that side of the ball and that's definitely an area where there might be some more questions than answers at this point of the year. Tuttle has to replace some serious production on defense and specifically at linebacker and in the secondary. But just like with offense, this is a Tuttle team that has a lot of confidence going into the 2025 football season with some of those new faces. Tuttle's coaches reported an excellent offseason in terms of work in the weight room and that, combined with the way last season ended, has really bonded this group together. The Tigers expect to be one of the top teams in Class 4A once again and they have become a very close knit group over the last 12 months. The schedule will be a challenging one as they face three 5A teams right out of the gate. But they should be the favorite to win their district and with that, they'll have a more manageable path in the playoffs. Make no mistake about it, this is a team that we expect to be at the top of Class 4A all season and potentially playing for the state title for the second straight year. Will this year finish differently? We'll have that answer in December.

There's only a handful of players that made a more significant jump from 2023 to 2024 than senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='473754' first='Cruz' last='Campbell'] did last fall with Tuttle. After playing for Southmoore in 2022 and 2023, Campbell moved over and immediately breathed new life into this Tuttle offense. On the season, he threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns with only three interceptions. In our opinion, he's one of the very best quarterbacks in the state and certainly one of the top guys in the state's 2026 class. But as we mentioned earlier, Tuttle lost some key names at wide receiver. How Campbell responds to those new connections will be a big key to their success this fall.

Senior offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1703451' first='Eli' last='Clark'] is going to be a very important part to what the Tigers do this season. Offensively, this was a unit that averaged north of 40 points per game and if they're going to get back there, it's going to start up front with the line of scrimmage. Last season, Tuttle's offensive line was an underrated part of the success of this team. And they have multiple players back that started all 14 games on the offensive line. Clark is one of those players. At 6'4 and over 250 pounds, Clark has the size to be the foundation of this Tiger O-line. If Clark and the rest of this unit can replicate what they did last season, it could be a successful 2025 campaign.

Since the state championship game, we've been buying all the stock we can get on junior [player_tooltip player_id='1035155' first='Jalen' last='Lane'] at the receiver and defensive back positions. He had a terrific performance in that state title game and that capped a breakout sophomore season. With Tuttle losing their top two playmakers at the wide receiver position, we have Lane as the player that could turn into the top threat in the Tuttle passing game. Last season, he had nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns. We think those numbers will blow up this fall. Defensively, he also had over 50 tackles and a pair of interceptions. He's had a terrific offseason and should have a lot of momentum going into this fall.

When looking at this Tuttle team on paper going into this season, we're trying to figure out what players could step up and experience that breakout season this fall. One of the players that we have circled as a serious possibility is senior [player_tooltip player_id='1703452' first='Jett' last='McCoy'] on both sides of the ball. Last season, McCoy was known for his ability on the defensive side of the ball. He finished his junior season with nearly 70 tackles and three interceptions. This season, we anticipate him to still be a dog on the defensive side of the ball but he could potentially be one of those gamebreakers on the offensive side of the ball. He's 6'3 and can give Campbell a big target to throw the ball down the field.

Senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1400727' first='Shawn' last='Rounsaville Jr'] was one of the more underrated players in the state last season. All eyes were on the Tuttle passing attack but Rounsaville was an absolute beast at running back. As we mentioned earlier, this was a player that finished with over 1,500 yards on the ground and he also scored 18 touchdowns. And with 235 carries on the year, he was a sneaky workhorse back that Tuttle could reliably hand the ball to 25-30 times a game and he took care of it and routinely picked up positive yards. Now, Rounsaville returns and between him and Campbell, this might be the best backfield duos in Class 4A. We could see him being a 2,000-yard back this fall.

2025 SCHEDULE

Aug. 28th - Guthrie
- For the second straight year, Tuttle's regular season kicks off with a heavyweight match-up against Guthrie. The Blue Jays beat the Tigers in 2022 and 2023 but last season, Tuttle stunned Guthrie on the road in the final minute. We can only hope this year's meeting brings the same fireworks.
Sept. 5th - Newcastle
- Whether it's in district play or non-district play, Tuttle is going to play Newcastle and this series has been very beneficial to the Tigers. They've won 12 straight in the series, including last year's 21-0 victory. Newcastle was a 5A semifinal team so they'll be a challenging opponent in week one.
Sept. 12th - AT Noble
- After back to back home games to kick off the season, the non-district slate will come to an end on the road, against Noble. This non-district series began in 2022 and it's been dominated by the Tigers. Tuttle won 56-7 last season and they've won all three meetings by at least 20 points.
Sept. 26th - Ardmore
- District play will begin in week four with a home game against Ardmore and it'll be Tiger VS Tiger. The Ardmore Tigers became a new district opponent for Tuttle last season. Tuttle would win 48-7. But Ardmore is coming into this season with the majority of their starters back.
Oct. 3rd - AT Madill
- The first district road game happens here in week five as Tuttle heads to Madill. These two became district foes last year and Tuttle won 61-0. Prior to last season, the Tigers hadn't played Madill since the 2018-2019 district cycle. Madill will have a first year head coach this season.
Oct. 10th - Bethany
- The second half of the regular season will begin at home against Bethany. These two teams met twice last season, with Tuttle winning 42-19 in the regular season and then beating the Bronchos 24-0 in the 4A semifinals. Tuttle has won four straight in this series against Bethany.
Oct. 16th - AT Tecumseh
- On a Fall Break Thursday night, Tuttle goes on the road to face Tecumseh. This match-up is sandwiched between arguably the two biggest district games on the schedule. Last season, the Tigers beat Tecumseh 57-6. This series has been dominated by Tuttle since it started in 2014.
Oct. 24th - AT Blanchard
- In week eight, Tuttle goes on the road to face Blanchard in a match-up that could decide the district championship. These two teams have developed quite the rivalry over the last several years. Tuttle won 28-7 in last season's meeting but Blanchard had won three of the previous four meetings.
Oct. 31st - Chickasha
- Despite being about 30 minutes away from each other, last year's district meeting was the first time these two had met in the regular season in the last few decades. They met in the playoffs in ‘19, ‘20 and ‘22 but last year's 55-0 Tuttle win was their first meeting in the regular season.
Nov. 7th - AT Harrah
- The regular season will come to an end with a road game against Harrah. Tuttle beat the Panthers 40-10 last season to wrap up an undefeated regular season. They are hoping to do the same in 2025. This is another series that's been one-sided as Tuttle hasn't lost to Harrah in the last decade.

NOTABLE

There is no doubt that the Tuttle Tigers have been one of the more dominant teams in Class 4A over the last decade. And in this decade in particular, there aren't many teams that can touch what the Tigers have done in this class. In fact, since 2020, Tuttle has the second most wins in Class 4A with a record of 55-10 in the last five seasons. Only Wagoner (59-6 during that time) has a better record. But for Tuttle, this is a program, and a town for that matter, that doesn't brag about their winning percentage or where they stand in Class 4A over the last decade. They have the nickname of “Title Town” around Tuttle and that's the measuring stick. And the Tigers have been knocking on the door in the last five years but as we look ahead to the 2025 season, they want to kick that door down and finish the job. Despite winning 55 games in the last five years, they haven't won a state title since 2018 and have two runner up finishes since 2020. With Wagoner starting a new era of Bulldogs football under a new head coach, perhaps that opens the door for Tuttle and “Title Town” to become the new kings of this class.
