Tennessee 2029 Rankings: 20+ Tight Ends To Know In The State

After a year of finding prospects, evaluating them in person and on film, speaking with different coaches and sources throughout the state, the Prep Redzone Next Tennessee Class of 2029 Rankings and Watchlist is complete. This list contains nearly 400 prospects that are set to make their high school football debut this upcoming fall---and the talent is immense. He looks like a Tight End but played all over the place during his middle school career: Kicker, Linebacker, Edge, Running Back, etc. Raw is an understatement when it comes to his route running and other important factors, but he was physically impressive as Westwood won the Duck River Valley Conference last year.     A prospect that has risen up the charts over the last calendar year is [player_tooltip player_id='1539843' first='CJ' last='Briggs']. Briggs was an impact player on a talented Dyersburg Middle School team the past two seasons, but really started to turn the corner this off-season. Up to 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, I've previously had him listed as an ATH; However, after a huge showing with the Tennessee Future Stars this summer as an H-Back, he's a slam dunk as a Tight End right now.     I've made no secrets about the amount of talent I feel T.W. Hunter Middle school has had over their recent run of dominance in Sumner County middle school football. Tight End [player_tooltip player_id='1530133' first='Cooper' last='Seeley'] is one of the prospects that enter Beech High School as a two-time All-County selection. He's a really promising looking kid with a proven track record of being able to stretch the field vertically. Repeatedly blows past Linebackers and then out-physicals the Secondary.     A prospect on the rise, in more ways than one. A good looking Tight End prospect who should continue to fill out nicely as he moves forward at Brentwood Academy. Can stretch the field vertically and is always a good bet to come down with the football on 50/50 balls. During spring tack as an eighth-grader, he broke the school record and HVAC record with a 6'0" high jump. As of right now, he's that that coveted WR/TE blend, that programs/teams all over the country are looking for.     Oneida doesn't have some of the juggernauts on their schedule that other Tight Ends/schools do, but [player_tooltip player_id='1529972' first='Kaden' last='Keeton'] should not be slept on as a prospect. He's listed at 6-foot-3 and 170-pounds right now, and while I can't confirm that, he appears to be pretty close on film. His film from this season was fun to watch because he made a bunch of grabs that left me saying, "1.) How did the defense not break that up? and 2.) How did he come down with that?". I'm not sure how to describe it, but he seemingly waits until the last possible minute to snatch the ball. One this kid hits the weight room consistently, he could be a problem at Tight End and/or Edge.     The McCallie School is retaining the services of [player_tooltip player_id='1610757' first='Kody' last='Wright'], who has been a multi-sport at the school during his middle school years. He's evolving nicely into a dependable Tight End with soft, reliable hands from what I can see on film. There's a nice mix of physicality and speed to his game after playing Edge and Defensive Tackle on the defensive side of the ball, in addition to Guard on offense. On the sub-varsity level size often dictates what position is played. His athleticism was clear as day on film.     Since I first saw film of [player_tooltip player_id='1466735' first='Kylan' last='White'] back in October I have had listed him as an ATH, but always made it clear that I think his future would be as a Tight End. With his Varsity season just weeks away, it seems he'll get his first Varsity action at Linebacker. With that said, his size and skill translates nicely to a Tight End as well. After lining up in the backfield for a nice chunk of his eighth-grade year, the West Tennessee Middle School All-Star is on the rise.     As an eighth-grader last year, [player_tooltip player_id='1614247' first='Mason' last='Bonner'] was one of the main targets of accomplished QB [player_tooltip player_id='1614244' first='Kamden' last='Dell'], and one of the main reasons Legacy Middle won the Williamson Middle Schools Athletic Association (WMAA) championship. Bonner will head to Ensworth for high school, which is very telling because a program like that doesn't just take anybody. It should also be noted that Bonner went undefeated wrestling at 185-pounds last year, which should serve him well when he has to block.     Despite falling short in the Upper Cumberland Conference championship game this year, Avery Trace Middle School had a roster of prospects that could all become very special over the next four year. In the case of Tight End/Edge [player_tooltip player_id='1721095' first='Stefan' last='Kabore'], he makes this list because I think the best is yet to come with an athlete like him. The District MVP in basketball last year, if he puts it all together on the gridiron, the future is bright for a 6-foot-3, 170-pound freshman like him.     Sitting in my seat right now, out of all the (presumed) Tight Ends on this list at this point, my gut tells me that [player_tooltip player_id='1721101' first='Ty' last='Burklow'] could very well end up becoming the top TE when all is said and done. He checks every box athletically for me. His size and frame is ideal. He runs routes faster, smoother and better than a lot of the Wide Receivers in this class. He's a multi-sport athlete with a Dad who coaches baseball and an older brother (Bo Burklow) currently playing Tight End at Liberty University.     Hats off to whoever is working in the Recruiting Department at Nicholls State University, because they have offered a number of talented 2029 prospects in the state of Tennessee. Columbia Central's [player_tooltip player_id='1721111' first='Tyshon' last='Dodson'] is one of those prospects and he just picked up the offer a week ago. He'll join the Lions as a freshman and I'd assume he contributes very quickly on the Varsity level in both Football and Baseball.
