The Class of 2027 is officially on the board, and we are here to help put these prospects on your radar with the latest 2027 Class Rankings update! The PRZ Iowa crew hopped into the film room and evaluated hundreds of prospects to bring you our overhauled 2027 rankings, now featuring over 100 ranked players and 200+ watchlist prospects.

Now, to cover these new rankings, we are doing our breakdowns as we cover some of the top prospects in each positional group. The next group I'm covering is the RB position, which has seen several promising prospects take the field as sophomores and already put up solid production. The top RB, Regina's [player_tooltip player_id='1197445' first='Savion' last='Miller'], is already starting to turn heads with four FBS offers.

The top RB in the state holds on to the title after a strong spring/summer cycle on the recruiting trail. Regina's [player_tooltip player_id='1197445' first='Savion' last='Miller'] broke out as a sophomore, rushing for 922 yards and eight touchdowns on 160 carries and recording 16 receptions for 192 yards. What makes Savion such an effective runner is his mix of speed, burst, and power packed into a strong 5'10", 195-pound frame. Miller runs with a consistent pad level, which makes it very hard to bring him down on initial contact. Additionally, Savion embraces the physicality of the game, constantly looking to dish out contact to defenders (and coming out on the winning end). He sees the field very well and can make quick, sharp cuts to hit open lanes. Savion's burst and acceleration were also impressive to watch, displaying the ability to explode through his gaps and then hit his next gear to break away from defenses. Extra value with his receiving and returning abilities. Savion already holds an impressive list of offers coming from Iowa State, Miami, Mizzou, and Toledo, with several other schools keeping tabs on the Regals' 3-star back.

Graduation took a toll on a deep Wahlert Catholic backfield that helped claim the Class 3A championship. However, the Golden Eagles still look to be in good shape with several players set to step up, including up-and-comer [player_tooltip player_id='1476007' first='Brody' last='Creighton'], who turned heads at our PRZ showcase this offseason, where he posted testing times of 4.36 shuttle drill, 7.3 L-drill, and a 9'1" broad jump. Brody has a bigger frame at 6'1", 190 pounds with a powerful, sturdy base that allows him to stay upright as he fights through contact. Shifty, clean footwork helps him make quick cuts in tight quarters. Once Creighton clears the second level, he flashes the acceleration to break away from defenses and find his way to the endzone. Brody is a legit receiving threat who can make catches out of the backfield or can line up in the slot and route up LBs. Breakout candidate for this fall!

The powerhouse Bobcats look like they have another beast in their backfield. RB [player_tooltip player_id='1621113' first='Drew' last='Bergfeld'] found his way onto the field as a sophomore and turned in a terrific performance with 960 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 167 carries. Drew plays like a runaway freight train, using his powerful 6'1”, 205-pound frame to bowl over defenders with ease. Bergfeld is a physical downhill runner who is a nightmare to play against, as he shows no signs of slowing down, gashing away at opposing defenses with each bruising run. His strong leg drive allows him to move off of would-be tacklers and keep going. Bergfeld also demonstrated that he can be a receiving threat (7 receptions, 119 yards) and a return man (214 return yards). He had a few impressive routes coming out of the backfield that resulted in nice gains. With his tools and the backing of a program like Western Dubuque, the sky's the limit for Drew!

Cedar Rapids Kennedy's [player_tooltip player_id='1394059' first='Damarian' last='Orr'] is primed to have a big season as the Cougars adjust to having a new signal caller. In a limited role last season, Orr carried the ball 63 times for 314 yards and two touchdowns. Right away, I was very impressed with the burst of speed Damarian displays either when he's about to hit his gap or when turning upfield after a catch. He flows through traffic extremely well, with a smooth change of direction that helps him cut back and juke without giving up speed. Excellent vision also helps with his ability to weave through defenses with ease. Strong base keeps him upright through contact. Watching some of Orr's 7v7 clips, it's clear he could also play slot receiver with his strong hands and twitchy route running. Definitely a guy to start monitoring now!

The DCG Mustangs may not have had the season they hoped for, but there is a ton to look forward to with a talented young core of players. One player who stood out early was junior RB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1198819' first='Ozzie' last='Grimm']. Ozzie led the Mustangs' rushing offense with 79 carries, 226 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns. Ozzie is an RB who is effective running the ball downhill but is also a threat to bounce runs to the outside, where he can turn on the gas and break free for big chunk yardage. Ozzie is a decisive runner who is quick to scan the field, and if he sees a lane or angle, he's taking it. Consistent pad level makes it difficult for defenders to get under when trying to tackle. Grimm is also a solid receiving back who hauled in 12 catches for 171 yards and a touchdown. Strong showing as a sophomore, breakout season coming in year 3!
