Skill talent is plentiful at the University program, and a new name to our 2027 rankings is WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1694169' first='Luke' last='Byrer']. He makes his debut just outside of the Top 50 with a high ceiling as a prospect if he continues to develop. Byrer has a basketball background, but his potential as a football prospect is obvious when watching his sophomore tape. His combination of size and athleticism will intrigue colleges in the future as his opportunities for reps increase as he gets older.

Someone who we've seen in person a couple of times this summer and earned a spot in the Top 70 is 2027 Huntington OL [player_tooltip player_id='1330188' first='Collin' last='Gadd']. He'll be a key piece to the Highlanders' offensive line this season after getting valuable playing time as a sophomore among a loaded group of linemen. Gadd could likely play every spot along the offensive line for Huntington, and he proved as much as a sophomore, lining up at both tackle spots and right guard. That versatility will appeal to colleges in the future as Gadd is a potential stock riser in the rankings once he's a full-time starter.

2027 Greenbrier East LB [player_tooltip player_id='1695972' first='Keshawn' last='Bland'] showed a ton of upside and potential on his sophomore highlight tape and debuts as a Top 10 linebacker in the class. He has the ideal frame that colleges are looking for at linebacker at 6'2 205 and athleticism to work with as he develops over the next two seasons. His first clip on his sophomore film shows said potential dropping into coverage, intercepting a pass, and racing to the end zone for a touchdown. His ceiling his much higher than his current ranking, so don't be surprised if he's a future stock riser.

Spring Mills has a plethora of skill players, which has limited varsity opportunities for 2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1635753' first='Douglas' last='Mayer'], but he's a name that colleges are going to want to know moving forward. What his role is as a junior for the Cardinals is to be determined, but he showed a lot of potential in his sophomore JV tape. Mayer has big play ability with quality length and athleticism that will allow him to develop into a future playmaker on the varsity squad. His speed jumps out on film at the JV level and makes it look like he's playing at a different pace than everyone else on the field. Keeps tabs on Mayer moving forward as we wait for him to produce at the varsity level.

2027 Herbert Hoover DL [player_tooltip player_id='1616326' first='Jay'Sean' last='Walker'] showed a lot of upside at a camp we attended this summer and joins the rankings as the #8 defensive lineman in the class. He'll need to keep developing his body to have the necessary size to play traditional DL at the next level, but Walker showed he has the athleticism and technique for a young player in person. We're expecting him to produce for the Huskies this fall and put more on tape for colleges as a junior.

Another 2027 offensive lineman whom we saw in person this summer and liked a lot is Fairmont Senior's [player_tooltip player_id='1681024' first='Cooper' last='Keener']. He'll likely be the starting varsity center for the Polar Bears this season and has very good size at 6'4 305 that he can continue to develop. Keener has shown a lot of potential and upside to date, and we're looking forward to seeing him apply that to Friday nights this fall on a larger scale. Colleges will want to keep close tabs on him the next two seasons as he puts together some starting varsity film.

This ranking for 2027 Buckhannon-Upshur TE [player_tooltip player_id='1642354' first='Brody' last='Jeran'] is based purely on potential and upside with the #2 TE spot in the class. Jeran has no game film to evaluate yet, but has looked the part at TE at various camps this summer. You can see the vision for him at tight end with the frame he has and the athleticism to utilize as a foundation for further development. Jeran has put in a lot of time this summer working on his craft, and we're excited to see how it translates on the field for his junior year and get some game film posted.

[player_tooltip player_id='1155298' first='Seth' last='Robinson'] was a very productive player for Clay County as a sophomore and will now head to Elkins for his junior season. He's a talented two-way player who was almost ranked as a running back, but debuts as the #2 EDGE in the 2027 class. His 36 tackles and 14 TFLs as a sophomore prove that he has a lot of potential as an EDGE/OLB, depending on how his body develops by his senior year. Robinson may flip over to running back in the rankings in the future, depending on what film he produces, but he's a name to know regardless of which position he eventually plays in college.
