One last wrap around our notebook from a couple Saturday AMs back at the second NDSU Prospect Camp for the skill positions. This is one deep group if you ask me especially in the 2026 and 2027 classes as we feature 12 more from our notebook of standouts from Fargo.

There hasn't been a Minnesota 2027 quarterback that has caught my attention more during live evals at Dakotas camps this summer than Rosemount quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1294136' first='Will' last='Brookins']. The reps I watched out of Will in Fargo were no different than what I saw in Grand Forks. He showed off excellent ball-placement during red-zone reps which tested his timing persistently. Will was almost perfect on those intermediate throws and the ones that were missed were on the wide receivers he lined up with in my eyes. There just was a superb poise that Will has continued to show off this summer and he carries the balance you want out of your gunslinger in this 2027 class. Surely a big time stockriser in my book from camp season.

This surely is not the first time I have seen Thor throw this summer, but there is a reason why he keeps landing as a standout this time at NDSU's second prospect camp. Having one of the bigger arms in the Minnesota 2027 class, Thor from my view has gotten from winter to summer much more balanced with his throws especially the ones I saw on interemediate routes in Fargo. I have also gathered his football IQ has improved in that time, as even when there is a miss on his throws, it's not by much and surely it's not going to cost his team a turnover that's where the poise has grown for Thor looking at the last six months or so. I will surely be intrigued by what this Wayzata offense looks like this fall with Thor as the gunslinger for the Trojans.

A new 2026 name I gathered up at NDSU as a first look from camp season that stood out in Fargo, was Mid Prairie running back Hudson Ehrenfelt. The 5'10 203 pounder went 4.78 in the 40-yard dash and 4.43 in the pro agility and possessed a 120 inch on the vertical. The live eval was the best part about Hudson, as during 1v1 reps this young man showed the yards after contact he could give your offense in the backfield, as this young man showed off a handful of hard-nosed reps that showed off his power thru contact ability. I also could grasp that from a ball-security perspective, this young man showed off sound technique from what the eye test showed me. What's even better? It doesn't appear that Hudson has his first offer yet, which to me based on what I saw at NDSU, is very surprising with his ideal size at the RB position, well-versed testing numbers, and showing off a great eval during 1v1s in Fargo.

Owen Simonson, RB, Hermantown, MN 2027

Another new name that came across my radar in the live eval at NDSU in the 2027 class, is one that sits under the radar out of Hermantown, which is running back Owen Simonson. I was intrigued by the suddenness of burst that Owen had at his disposal, as too with the ideal RB size he showed off. There surely too was a bulk of fluidity when watching his athletic movement in the handful of reps I got to watch. Not on Twitter yet, nor does he have tape out there. I'll be intrigued to keep watching to see what his junior season looks like as one to keep tracking from the North Shore.

If you remember back in November, I named Israel my 11AA MVP from the North Dakota state championship game, as watching his 1v1 reps In Fargo at wide receiver, he was business as usual. The two-way threat for the Hawks, brought excellent route running ability that not only showed off the seperation he got with his change of direction, but showed off the route-creavity that I always want to see out of the wide receiver position, as if his first look wasn't there, Israel wasted no time improvising on his route. The soft hands were also as consistent as you want them to be in the live eval as Israel didn't record one drop in the several reps I watched from the West Fargo Horace product. With eight offers (3 D1) under his belt, he's no doubt going to see a slight rise from his camp season efforts in our upcoming ND 2026 rankings that come out soon!

Another West Fargo Horace wide receiver that caught our radar quickly at NDSU, was our WR1 in the 2027 North Dakota class which is [player_tooltip player_id='1604859' first='Aiden' last='Green']. There's a reason why Aiden was one of 11AA's only underclassmen up for All-State last year, and he showed off how much stock he's continued to rise from the live eval we got at NDSU. Where Aiden impressed me most during the live 1v1 reps, was how well he worked in high-traffic areas as a route-runner as he wasn't phased by tight areas which shows to me the instincts that Aiden has at the wide receiver position. Even on those higher intensity 1v1 reps, Aiden showed off a business as usual mentality showing off soft hands and showed off that even when throws were off his line, that he was able to lock in and get his hands where they were needed to log his receptions. He surely appears to me what could be an early offer in this 2027 class in the offensive skill group.

A new name that popped out my radar out of powerhouse Maple Grove in the 2027 class was tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1120559' first='Karris' last='Ellingson']. Out of the reps I watched, I could grasp the upside that this young man has especially as a pass-blocker as in my eyes, I thought Karris showed off a quick learning curve that thrived with attention to detail from when I watched thru his first rep to his last rep with the TE group. Where he grew the most was with his pad-level in those last reps, as too his power generation was well-versed by the time 1v1s were near over at NDSU on Saturday morning. He's showed off as a blocking tight end that when I watched his pass-catching reps that again, based on the eye test his hands served better on those final reps, which showed to me that Karris has some clutch genes that could grow quickly. We've always known the Crimson have been deep at the TE position especially the last few years, as Karris looks to be the next-man up in their TE room that they should love the upside he can produce in the coming years.

The only 2028 prospect that got on my radar from watching the skill group on Saturday morning at NDSU, was Carson Feinstein out of Madison Memorial. You could tell right away the fluidity this young man has at his disposal as a route-runner that shows off promising hands for his age based on the reps I watched in Fargo. College coaches should know, that Carson has plenty of room to grow in the next handful of years but another thing I loved from his live eval was his interaction with the college coaches with how he could perfect his craft and get better, as a TE prospect that I could craves the attention to detail you might want in your TE room in the future. As a Madison Area native myself, Carson will be one I will have to continue to track over the coming years as he develops further.

Another name that caught my attention during the 1v1 session at NDSU was Douglas County West 2026 linebacker Nolan Asher. The 6'4 220 (!) pounder was one of a small group of linebackers that showed lateral movement that looking imposing for his measurables, as his footwork was also smooth in the couple reps I got to watch Nolan. He wasn't just smooth either getting downhill to the ball, he almost looked robotic in some of those reps I took in as Nolan showed off the tight angles off the shoulder with his shedding ability and when he met the ball carrier you could tell the authority this kid had from a physicality perspective. Its evident the college coaches are seeing the same as I saw at NDSU, as he picked up seven offers at the D1 and D2 levels in the month of June and also boosts a 33 ACT for those high academic schools that are in the hunt in the state of Nebarska for football talent.

Carson is a 2026 linebacker that I have now gotten a couple promising live evals from him this summer, first at the NDSU prospect camp. Our LB1 in the ND 2026 class, showed off in the live reps that he has developed his speed getting off blocks and showing a quicker downhill pursuit to the ball carrier where from what I saw, showed off the intriguing pursuit angles you want to see from your outside linebacker. I also felt in the live eval, he painted a better picture with his motor, as a linebacker that was quite wirey with his hands getting thru contact which felt like it got swifter and swifter the more reps I watched out of Carson. He surely is one that I am super suprised doesn't have his first offer yet as he projects as an ideal fit in the Northern Sun from my view.

Something is surely in the water in Spuds Country with their 2026 and 2027 classes as another one that had a standout Saturday morning at the second NDSU prospect camp of the summer was cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1694135' first='Zak' last='Walker'], who also picked up his first offer from the Bison that weekend. The nearly 5'11 170 pounder put up some freakish numbers during the testing session boosting a extremely explosive 10'8 broad jump, 128 inches (10.6 feet) on his vertical and showing off low 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash and 4.34 in the pro agility. Zak is a prime example of getting his looks early, as his tape is super light and hasn't scratched the surface yet, but surely when I got the live eval at NDSU, the athletic traits are there from a football IQ perspective that you could not miss on the live eval. Surely is one that projects as a cornerback in my eyes at the D1 level as the mighty Bison got the eval they were looking for out of the Moorhead product.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633909' first='Miles' last='Felton'], DB/ATH, Champlin Park, MN 2027 Twitter

Another Minnesota 2027 that has put together a nice camp season thus far, is defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1633909' first='Miles' last='Felton'] out of Champlin Park as that stock continued to rise from what I saw up in Fargo. It's clear to me that the game for Miles is slowing down for him, as I've seen an increase of production with his football IQ this summer. Where I could see it clearly at NDSU, was during 1v1 reps, as Miles now only showed smoother-looking pursuit angles from the eye-test, the comfortability I was seeing from him at the defensive back position as a whole has taken new heights. I always say, I want any DB prospect to show off easily seen physicality, and that was evident in the reps I watched out of Miles, as he just brought a sense of authority when he got in the tackle box to make plays which saw constant drive-back tackling. The verified 6'2 207 pounder from the Rebels, also showed the explosive traits college coaches are going to want, with a 9'9 broad jump at NDSU. I also feel there's some position flexibility with this young man at the next-level on defense.

I usually feel I have one of the calmest demeanors when it comes to evaluating football prospects, but man was I fired up watching Maple Grove 2026 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1362824' first='Patrick' last='Wright'] during 1v1 reps at NDSU. Even as Maple Grove's next in line at running back, I loved how natural Patrick looked taking DB reps in Fargo, as there was plenty of skillsets that were in his favor from my live eval. Patrick didn't give up an inch in the live reps, as his ball-tracking ability was honestly one of the best I saw in the DB group in the live eval as he also possessed excellent range to potentially play safety at the next-level as well. I said a couple weeks ago and I'll say it again, he brought a "dog mentality and was super comfortable in every single rep I watched as I believe he was perfect during 1v1 reps at NDSU. Man, is someone going to get a steal with this young man!

Last but not least in the defensive back group of live evals we got from a few Saturdays back at NDSU, was what we saw out of unoffered 2026 defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='579559' first='Marcus' last='Snyder'] out of Spring Lake Park. There was plenty of notes I had logged in my notebook on this young man, but we have to start by talking about the well-versed knock back tackling ability this young man showed off, not once but on every rep I watched up in Fargo. Marcus also showed off the instinctive vision you should want at the safety position, as one that showed off as rangy as well in his live eval. Marcus also relished great technique and an athletic base stance from the eye test. He projects as a strong safety in my eyes at the next-level as one that was a persistent finisher that did his best work in the run game at NDSU.
