We have nearly entered preseason territory. As the players prepare to hit the practice field in August, it's time to put the attention towards the players that will soon be entering the conversation of middle school QBs to watch out for. There is a ton of young talent in the state, and with these players being part of the 2031 class, there is still plenty of time for them to perfect their craft before they get statewide recognition. Let's get a head start on the QBs you should become familiar with before the season begins.

[player_tooltip player_id='1638406' first='Christian' last='Cali'] is one of the most developed QBs coming out of the 2031 class. Already standing over 5'8" heading into 7th grade, Christian's early development matches the skill set he has on the field. From the reps I have seen, Christian is one of the more accurate, young quarterbacks. Even with a shorter windup, Christian can still deliver the ball with a lot of power behind it. Once he is able to use his arm to the fullest I wouldn't be surprised if Christian can deliver 40+ yard dimes in the future.

Christian has been all over the place showcasing his skills this offseason. He has been the MVP at numerous events, but most impressive, Christian was invited down to Miami to compete with athletes all around the country. There, Christian showed quick feet in the pocket and great decision making when squaring off against the DBs. I was thoroughly impressed with his ability to throw the ball to the outside and keep it away from the defender's outstretched hands. Keep an eye on this rising star in NJ.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DIEuOXrxfrD/?img_index=1

Clay has grown leaps and bounds since I first saw him well over a year ago. Not only physically, but in capabilities as a gunslinger and leader as well. Clay has persistently pursued every opportunity to get better and show his skills, making it to every Next combine or camp over the past two offseasons. Even when Clay was one of the smaller QBs at the camps early on, he showed resilience and eagerness to compete with the best that the combines had to offer.

This offseason, Clay has been making his presence known. A QB with a lot of poise in the pocket and an increasingly stronger arm, Clay has been gaining recognition throughout the state. As he has been in attendance at some of the top private school camps this summer (Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco, St. Peter's Prep), prominent programs are starting to see what Clay could potentially develop into. Clay has not only turned the heads of coaches and scouts at the high school level, but recently received his first D1 offer from Columbia. While Clay is heading to San Diego for the next two years, he plans on coming back to North Jersey when high school comes around.

[player_tooltip player_id='1635848' first='Adam' last='Ortiz'] is another 2031 QB making his rounds across the country this offseason. Competing in the Northeast, Dallas and beyond, Adam is on the precipice of gaining a following from scouts and coaches.

While competing at the Elite 11 Academy, Adam showcased his athleticism and gave the coaches a glimpse of the unlimited potential he is equipped with. Adam moved well in the pocket with quick hip movement and the ability to slide around with ease. He looked very comfortable as he moved around in the backfield, but what was even more impressive was the accuracy and arm strength he has for his size. Adam was able to rocket the ball from sideline to sideline, proving that his current size doesn't hold him back from getting recognized. I think there's good reason to believe that Adam will progress into a prominent figure on the field, as his longer legs indicate he has plenty of room to grow.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DGeHtutJ5Nh/?img_index=2

[player_tooltip player_id='1634994' first='Brett' last='Miller'] is the final 2031 NJ QB that demands attention before the season begins. A strong armed quarterback honing from Pequonnock, Brett excelled on the field in 2024, leading his team from one victory to the next.

Unfazed by pressure, Brett demonstrated an exceptional ability to escape the pocket and evade the pressure, all while keeping his eyes downfield. If this doesn't scream moxie and athleticism, I don't know what does. Game after game Brett showed that he can keep his eyes downfield while on the run and still hit an open man between the numbers. Brett is another young QB putting in a ton of work throughout the offseason, and I am excited to see what lies ahead for his future.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DBxEgPqucFY/?img_index=1
