Deep Dive: Wake County Edge Rushers

And after looking at a young and unproven interior defensive line group, we're hitting a loaded group of edge rushers, one so deep, we had to cut a Power Four recruit out of the top five. While some knew he could have a huge year, few expected that level of production from a guy who had seven total tackles as a freshman. Streets wins with a combination of speed, power, and finishing ability. He's our top 2027 prospect and has plenty of room to grow as well.     Ewetade has the rare distinction of being a proven pass-rusher with plenty of untapped potential. Simply put, his 15 sacks over the last two years are excellent and he's long, athletic, and quick, with plenty of yet unrealized upside. So, the Notre Dame commit is giving the Fighting Irish not only a proven player, but a guy the staff can work with to make even better. Ewetade has worked hard to rework his body and could still add 15-20 pounds in a college weight room.     Don't be fooled by Griffin-Haynes lower sack numbers, he's an intelligent, high-upside edge defender who should have a more-tangible impact as a pass-rusher in 2025. He excels at doing what's needed to help his defensive line, whether that's absorbing double-teams, taking away screen passes and checkdowns, or getting a hand on passes. He has elite length and great pass-rushing upside.     Eleazer turned upside into production as a junior breaking out with 13.5 sacks. He's a long, twitched-up edge rusher who still hasn't grown into his frame. The fact that he was able to dominate last year without a college strength program to help is a huge green flag. Whichever team ultimately lands him will have a talented, moldable edge rusher with huge upside.     Prichard is one of my favorite edge rushers in a loaded class. He doesn't often get the same attention as some of his peers, but he's really taken off on the recruiting trail in recent months. We were impressed at our Prep Redzone camp with his quick first step and array of pass-rushing moves. He has a few FCS offers and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Group of Five team or two jump in during the season.     Broadie isn't your prototypical edge rusher at 6'2"-6'3" but he has plenty of upper body strength to put offensive linemen off balance and make plays. Broadie is a force in the running game and has a quick get-off to disrupt pl,ays behind the line of scrimmage. His overall production isn't yet at the level of some of these other players, but he has the upside to have a breakout season oj the field this fall.     Colson will be surrounded by talent after transferring to Rolesville and he's one of several viable pass-rushing options on that defensive line. That means fewer double-teams, more rotation, and more opportunities to be put in good one-on-one pass-rushing situations. He can fly, even at 230 pounds, and has a quick-twitch as well. He's a valuable run defender who can probably improve as a pass-rusher in 2025.
