Wyoming East may be rebuilding in recent seasons, but they'll have a good piece to build around in 2028 EDGE/DL [player_tooltip player_id='1624429' first='Grayson' last='Ashley']. He was a standout freshman for the Warriors last season and a team leader as a young player. Ashley totaled 99 tackles and 6 sacks in his first year of high school, and is built well for his age, which translated to early success. He caught our eye at the Concord Prospect Camp earlier this summer without having seen any game film before then, but was certainly on our radar after a productive freshman season. Ashley has since produced film, which led him to earn the #4 EDGE ranking in the 2028 class, with a bright future coming for the rising sophomore. He has the potential to grow into an every-down defensive end with his hand in the dirt with the frame he possesses. If Ashley can improve overall athleticism, he'll have the opportunity to stick as a stand-up edge rusher as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1624454' first='Georgie' last='Mamakos'] is a standout wrestler for the Cadets, but his play on the football field shouldn't be overlooked either. He produced as a freshman and may be under-the-radar as a football player, but he showed a lot of upside and fearlessness as a young player. Size will be his biggest hurdle as a football prospect, but Mamakos showed natural instincts and ability as a freshman thrown into the fire. He can play nickel and outside corner with safety ability as well, whose wrestling background makes him strong in run support as well, even while being undersized.

We haven't gotten much game film to evaluate from 2028 Martinsburg DB [player_tooltip player_id='1624448' first='Kolby' last='Walker'] yet, but keep tabs on him to emerge on the varsity squad sooner rather than later. If not this season, Walker should be a standout on Friday nights by his junior year, once his name is called upon. He'll likely shoot up the rankings once he produces more game film, but will debut as the #4 defensive back in the 2028 class, which speaks to his potential and upside as a prospect.

No game film to evaluate from 2028 Brooke OL/DL [player_tooltip player_id='1624394' first='Jacob' last='Obeldobel'], but he'll be a name that colleges will want to know in the future. Obeldobel was one of the Bruins' top linemen as a freshman last season and was a varsity starter in year one of high school. He has quality size for his age and has the versatility to produce on both sides of the line with the potential to be recruited on either side. We'll wait for him to produce game film to judge his future outlook as a prospect fairly, but we're confident he'll be a top big man in the 2028 class.

The most productive pure linebacker in the 2028 class last season was Mingo Central's [player_tooltip player_id='1580731' first='Jacob' last='Maynard']. He was the second-leading tackler for the Miners as a freshman among a very talented linebacker group. Maynard totaled 86 stops, including 11 for a loss and 6 sacks. He's an aggressive and attacking outside linebacker who is very capable of rushing the passer off the edge. Maynard is also stout in run defense with the athleticism that he has, and can track down ball carriers from behind when the play side is opposite of him.

Our early top specialist prospect in the 2028 class is Chapmanville K Ashton McClanhan. He was the Tigers' kickoff specialist as a freshman, where he performed at a high level for a first-year kicker. McClanhan will likely have that role again this season as Chapmanville boasts a talented specialists group, but should have place-kicking opportunities as an upperclassman in the future. He has an early strong leg, but the most impressive part of his kickoff ability as a young player was ball placement. McClanhan is able to be utilized on directional kicks and squibs to put the ball in tricky spots for the return team. That speaks to his ability as a young kicker and bodes well for his future outlook as a specialist prospect.

Another Chapmanville Tiger to know in the 2028 class is DL/OL [player_tooltip player_id='1311031' first='David' last='Browning']. He saw mostly reps along the offensive line as a varsity freshman starter last season, but Browning has done some good things at defensive line at camps this summer. How his body develops over the next three years will determine which side of the line he ends up on in college. Browning has the early athleticism that will translate well at either position, and he did a nice job as a puller from his tackle spot on offense. He has the potential to be a big-time stock riser in the rankings in the future as he adds size with the physical traits that he already has.
