2027 Rankings Risers: Defense

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">As the class of 2027 continues to take shape, several defensive prospects are beginning to separate themselves with standout performances, physical development, and high-ceiling potential. From explosive edge rushers to rangy defensive backs, these are the defenders making the biggest jumps in the latest rankings update.</h2>    Eason continues to climb the PRZ 2027 rankings now at #13 overall and the third ranked DB in the class. 6'1” 160 lbs. he's a physical and technically sound cover corner with strong skills in both press and off-man coverage. Displays consistent hand usage at the LOS and throughout the route to maintain leverage and disrupt timing. Shows excellent patience and balance in press, staying square with fluid lateral movement to match and redirect receivers. Flashes the all around game speed to stay attached at all three levels with the recovery speed to regain ground and get in position to play the ball at the catch point. Like his sharp plant and drive mechanics and explosive acceleration coming out of his breaks. Confident and effective in space, he shows a willingness to initiate contact and is a dependable tackler in the open field. Holds nine D1 offers to date.   9 Offers: ASU, SDSU, UNLV, Louisville, New Mexico, Nevada, Kansas, Kansas State, NAU      Jordan stock continues to rise moving up a handful of spots to #46 overall and the #6 ranked DL in the 2027 class. His recruitment is also picking up with D1 offers coming in from NAU and Colorado State this off season. 6'3” 220 lbs. he's an active defender with a great ability to disrupt plays before they develop, racked up 18 TFL's, and six sacks as a sophomore. He plays fast and is constantly attacking both as a run stopper and pass rusher. Shows high level technique and hand usage with plus natural strength at the POA. He's able to long arm blockers to maintain separation and win the leverage battle. His combination of speed and strength makes him difficult to block one on one. His get-off is quick and sudden, showing the ability to bend and flatten to the QB when working off the edge. He's got a versatile frame that could land him at DE or OLB once he gets to the college level.   2 Offers: NAU, Colorado State      Zembrycki's recruitment has skyrocketed since the spring contact period pulling in six D1 offers. 6'5” 245 lbs. he possesses the ideal frame for the position with the length, power, and athletic upside that D1 college programs covet. He uses his size effectively to set the edge, showing strong hands and the ability to stack and shed blockers with consistency. His long arms allow him to create separation and control matchups at the POA, while his disciplined technique keeps him in position against both the run and pass. He flashes good first step explosion off the line and can convert speed to power as a pass rusher, often overwhelming tackles with his physicality. Despite his size, he moves well laterally and show good change of directions skills when pursuing the ball. Also proves effective as a TE on offense. Ranked #24 overall and the third ranked DL prospect in the 2027 class.   6 Offers: Idaho, NAU, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Washington State, Arizona      Glenn is an attacking defender with three down ability to be equally effective as a run stopper or dropping into coverage. 6'2” 200 lbs. he's continued to add good weight to his frame and also carries an 80 inch wingspan. Skillset blends his athleticism, range, and physicality. He plays with a fast, downhill mentality and has the speed to cover ground quickly, whether its tracking sideline to sideline, scraping across the formation, or closing on ball carriers in space. Plays with good eye discipline to diagnose and shows sharp read and react ability. Uses his hands effectively to shed blocks and plays with strong leverage. Violent at the POA, he's a reliable tackler with a wide radius that accelerates and finishes through contact. Just picked up his initial college offer from Syracuse but he's a high upside prospect that is expected to continue to climb rankings and recruiting boards as he progresses.   1 Offer: Syracuse      With a strong athletic frame at 6'1” 190 lbs., Solomon is a versatile defender that brings great positional flexibility and playmaking ability at all levels of the field. He can line up deep as a high safety, roll into the box to support the run, or drop into the slot and handle man coverage responsibilities. In coverage, he shows natural instincts and fluid movement skills, with smooth footwork through his backpedal, seamless transitions, and the ability to break downhill with speed. His processing speed and anticipation stand out consistently reading route combinations and breaking on the ball before it's out of the QB's hand. His speed gives him good range to cover the whole field while his burst allows him to erase space quickly. Still awaiting that first offer but he checks a lot of boxes with D1 talent, ability, and size. Ranked #59 overall and the #6 DB.
