2027 MD Rankings: Top Newcomers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With the newly updated 2027 MD/DC/DE Rankings coming out earlier this week, I take a look at some of the top newly added prospects to the rankings. A mountain of a player out of DC standing 6'6" and now up to 300lbs. he has the ideal size Power 4 schools look for. Physical with chopping feet and strength throughout, Marzear keeps his legs churning and finishes blocks. One he gets his hands into the defenders chest he drives them out of the play and will put them in the dirt. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He had a busy summer picking up his first 4 offers from Vtech, Liberty, ODU and Del State. Making his debut as a top 50 player in the class and the #6 Edge defender, look for Cary to make his name known in the area this fall. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At 6'3" 220lbs with a frame to get to 240+ easily, Cary fits the mold of a speed edge rusher in today's game. Plays well as a wide 9 or stand up OLB. Knows how to take good angles to slip/dip by blockers, get under OLs arms &amp; flatten down the line to the QB. Looks athletic one film but would like to see him improve his burst/explosiveness of the snap at times. Currently Cary has no offers to my knowledge, but feel that has to with many colleges in the area not knowing of him yet. An imposing player at 6'5" &amp; ~300lbs with broad shoulders and a strong lower half. Jared plays with a lot of power to his game. With forceful hands and solid lateral movement, once he gets inside the defenders chest he drives and over powers them with ease. Jared popped this spring picking up offers from Howard, Del State, Hampton, and UMD after showing well at their camps. Still needs to show it on the field and want to see him improve his bend &amp; consistency in play, but he should slide in to the Dematha starting lineup at OG this fall. He debuts as the #6 overall ATH in these updated MD rankings and has a lot of potential in his game to move up in future rankings. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With a good overall frame, build and length, Mckai passes the eye test. A dynamic athlete, he is a playmaker on both sides of the ball for Great Mills. Fluid, quick to change speeds and can eat up grass, Mckai gets all over the field. He shows great ball skills with a big catch radius, able to make the spectacular play. Coming in at the #4 overall LB, he is a verified 6'2" 185lbs. with a frame to get to 210-225lbs easily in time and the length to go along with it. He also ran a verified 4.8 forty and a 9'4" SBJ. Those numbers help to confirm he has the athleticism to play that OLB role at the next level. He's got nice lateral movement and COD ability, being high hipped and can open up and run with fluidity. As an off ball OLB, Lawtell shows very well in coverage. Able to stay with RBs and TE covering the flats and across the middle. He shows good instincts in breaking on the ball and either getting PBUs or stopping the offensive player in his tracks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Currently holding a Del State offer he picked up in early spring. He plays with good explosiveness, violence, and quickness on both sides of the ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">At OG he can pull and get out in space, and shows good footwork at the LOS. Myles also shows on film a good initial punch and the ability to win leverage at POA.&nbsp;On defense Myles has good burst of the snap and shows good hand work. He shows the ability to push/pull &amp; shed the OL, as well ass adding an over top swim move. A nice combination of athleticism, size and a good motor, Myles will be a prospect I can see a lot of colleges wanting to have camp next summer and will picking up offers possibly on both side of the ball.
