About Mckai
Expert Analysis
Ed OBrien | Prep Redzone Scout
Minor is a versatile, high-upside athlete who impacts the game on offense, defense, and special teams. At wide receiver, he shows strong ball skills and playmaking ability after the catch. Minor can turn short throws into explosive gains with balance, vision, and elusiveness. I was able to see a few things in his highlights. Minor sells routes well, creates separation with subtle movement, and finishes in the red zone on slants, fades, and double moves. Minor is especially dangerous once the ball is in his hands.
On special teams, Minor is a threat as a returner. There’s a return touchdown on his highlights where he shows burst and acceleration as he weaves through traffic.
Defensively, Minor lines up at free safety and flashes range, awareness, and closing speed. He tracks the ball well in the air, breaks on throws quickly, and makes plays on the football. A few of his highlights include interceptions and pass breakups in the end zone. Minor’s size allows him to cover ground and compete at the catch point.
To continue developing, Minor would benefit from showing more route polish at the receiver. Adding more open-field tackling clips on defense would help complete his evaluation. Overall, Minor is a true multi-phase athlete with size, ball skills, and versatility, capable of impacting the game in several ways. His highest upside at the next level may be at the safety position.

is a receiver that Great Mills makes a point to feature in space, utilizing him on drag routes, screens, and curl concepts to create one-on-one matchups. Standing at 6’2”, 195 pounds, Minor’s blend of size, strength makes him a mismatch matchup for most defensive backs in his class.
He’s capable of breaking tackles after the catch and using his frame to shield defenders in traffic, giving his quarterback a reliable target at all levels of the field. As the season progresses, expect Minor to continue emerging as a go-to playmaker and one of the most physically imposing receivers in the 2027 class.

Mckai is a sleeper prospect heading into this season and a player I can’t wait to get eyes on. He debuts as the #6 overall ATH in these updated MD rankings and has a lot of potential in his game to move up in future rankings.
With a good overall frame, build and length, Mckai passes the eye test. A dynamic athlete, he is a playmaker on both sides of the ball for Great Mills. Fluid, quick to change speeds and can eat up grass, Mckai gets all over the field. He shows great ball skills with a big catch radius, able to make the spectacular play. With good junior tape, Mckai will be a name on a lot of colleges boards going forward and certainly see him as an FBS level prospect.
