The Whitewater Mega Camp ended up being a great place to see some new talent at the QB position while also getting an updated look at some familiar faces. It was a very well balanced group of 26s, 27s, and 28s and it wasn't just athletes from the state of WI. In this article alone we will talk about standout performances from athletes from WI, IL, and TX. The kids made their trips worth it, putting up plenty of strong combines and most importantly putting together strong displays of their arm talents. Let's talk about the best of the position!

An underclassman who caught my eyes every time I watched the underclassman 1v1s was 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1620367' first='Quintin' last='Arizola']. The 6' 170 lbs incoming junior is developing really well technically/mechanically. He demonstrated a quick release and efficient throwing motion that got the ball out quickly and from a high release point. Quintin was able to deliver the ball to the short and intermediate levels with touch or with velocity. At just 170 lbs it was clear that the '27 has plenty of room to continue to pack on the weight and muscle. That would in return help him increase the depth downfield that he can attack with velocity. I like where he is at so far and am excited to watch him develop over this next year. He already has a year of varsity experience under his belt too.

Luke made the trip up from Texas to show off his talents and he had a lot to show. The incoming senior is quick and light on his feet, easily navigating through cones and bags during drill work. He repeatedly showed that he could quickly reset and fire the ball out. The '26 has a live arm too. Luke had no issues attacking every level of the field and did well choosing whether to drive the ball to his man or drop it into a spot over his receiver's shoulder. I was really impressed with Luke's accuracy too, even with the unfamiliar targets. Almost every throw we saw the ball hit the target right in stride. Luke quickly established himself as a top talent among the group and stayed among the best throughout the day.

One of the top performers of the day as a passer and as an athlete was Slinger's [player_tooltip player_id='1260064' first='Jeffrey' last='Ford']. The 6'2' 170 lbs '26 ran a 4.69 40, 7.00 L-Drill, 4.31 shuttle, and jumped 10'1". A great combine performance for any position, especially a QB. That dual threat ability has been dominant for Ford over the years, allowing him to also help his team as a WR in the past. As dominant as he is as a runner, Jeffrey came out and proved that he is also a viable passing threat. His natural athleticism carried over to his smooth throwing mechanics that quickly got the ball out of his hands. The incoming senior was able to carve up the field, driving the ball to every level and flashing impressive pinpoint accuracy especially when throwing with touch. A big year is on the way for the versatile 2026.

It was great to see Eli in person once again. The underclassman definitely had one of the best days throwing the football. He stood out from the crowd with the other 27s and 28s. The footwork and overall mechanics are developing so quickly. His footwork in bag drills and in drills where they were throwing on the run looked natural, quick, and consistent rep to rep. His learning curve has been a rapidly increasing one. A year ago Eli was an athlete who played QB. Now he is looking like a legitimate passer to keep your eyes on. He drives the ball to every spot on the field when necessary and his command over where he plays the ball was some of the best I saw in Whitewater.

Another really strong showing from the underclassmen group was 2028 Nolberto Rosales. While he isn't the biggest kid at 5'9" 170 lbs, Rosales doesn't lack the arm talent. I have become such a fan of him at camps this offseason because of how much velocity he is able to generate on his passes. The ball jumps out of his hand and can be on a rope 20-30 yards downfield. The '28 does a great job of using his entire body to get that power on the ball. It isn't just the power though, Nolberto also did well giving his targets catchable balls and giving his guy the best chance to win the rep. The incoming sophomore is building towards a potentially exciting 2025 season.

An Illinois product that caught my eyes over and over during 1v1s was Brock Curtin out of Lyons Township. The 6'2" 175 lbs athlete started the day with a strong combine showing. He ran a 4.84 40, 7.5 L-Drill, 4.43 shuttle, and jumped 9'4" in the broad. That was second to his impressive day throwing the ball, though. Over and over Brock had me going to my notes to see who it was catching my eyes. Brock has plenty of arm strength that could push the ball to the deepest level of the field and his touch always had the ball dropping right into the hands of his target. Even when using touch over velocity, Brock didn't let the ball float in the air. Brock performed like a viable dual threat option at the QB position.

Another Illinois standout among the QBs was the Grant Community signal caller. Matthew was able to perform so well that he left the day with an offer from the hosting Warhawks. It was easy to see why they extended the offer. The '26 stood out from the crowd with his ability to drive the ball on a rope, especially 25 yards and in. He was also able to drive the ball to the deep third of the field without having to sacrifice much velocity. The QB's mechanics were among the best too, lending to that ability to be accurate as well as maximize the velocity he could put on the ball. Throw after throw Matthew further solidified himself as the top passer of the day. Love to see that it earned him his first offer.

Our final standout from the group is 2026 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1196149' first='Michael' last='Suominen'] out of Madison West. Michael started the day off putting together a strong combine. He ran a 4.64 40, 7.65 L-Drill, 4.62 shuttle, and jumped 8'8". Speed like that could open the door to him possibly being a recruit at positions outside of QB even. But as a passer Michael also had a solid day. He is a kid that wins with smart ball placement and the accuracy/touch to be able to place it in those spots consistently. On top of the dual threat ability Michael is also a solid baseball player too. Check him out!
