With it being Memorial Day, I'd like to start this report by sharing my appreciation to the brave men and women that have served and are currently serving this country. Secondly, I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.

As we begin to wrap up this final week of May, I wanted to share another edition of Unranked and Underrated. Throughout this series the focus has mainly been on the upperclassmen in the state. But in this report, we'll be turning our attention to the underclassmen.

The Class of ‘28 has already shown a lot of promise, and there are still more prospects that have yet to be discovered. It's inevitable that more will pop up throughout this summer and during the ‘25 campaign. For now though, these four are the latest upcoming sophomores that have caught my attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='1810975' first='Jackson' last='Parker'] - Olathe North, 6'3”, 175, WR/ATH

Starting us off is one of the most underrated athletes in the entire Class of ‘28. Parker of Olathe North is a great two-sport athlete that's been very impressive on the track recently. This past week he punched his ticket to the 6A state track meet by taking 1st place at Regionals in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 14.59. The sophomore-to-be also holds an FCS offer from Sacramento State University. Parker has the potential to be an exciting play maker for Olathe North.

[player_tooltip player_id='1810985' first='Anthony' last='Berry'] - Mill Valley, 6'0”, 240, DL

Earlier this offseason I highlighted a promising freshman DL prospect from Mill Valley, but it appears I overlooked another one. Berry was an absolute problem at defensive tackle during his freshman season. Whether he was playing at the freshman or junior-varsity level, Berry would fight through double teams and stuffed ball carriers in their tracks. He'll have a great shot at being in Mill Valley's defensive line rotation this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1810993' first='Akela' last='Carter'] - Blue Valley NW, 5'5”, 140, ATH

Blue Valley Northwest has done a great job of developing their pass catchers in recent years. Carter is one that impressed at the freshman level in 2024. He worked primarily out of the slot at the freshman level and displayed very reliable hands as well as some sharp route running. Currently he's more of a possession receiver, but as he gets older he could be a player that Northwest targets quite often.

Jacksen Dasilva - Jefferson West, 5'7”, 160, LB/RB

This last prospect has been putting in work this offseason in hopes of turning some heads during his sophomore year. Dasilva put his skills to the test at one of the KC Varsity Combine dates earlier this month, and he had a solid 7-On-7 season competing with Top City Most Wanted. He's a physical player that could emerge as a standout two-way prospect during his career at Jefferson West.
