Spring Rankings Update: 2026 DB New Additions

As we wind down with the 2026 spring rankings update, we have a few more position groups to cover. We've arrived at the new linebackers, a strong group top to bottom. After covering the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/05/spring-stock-risers-2026-db-report/">stock-risers</a>, we've arrived at the 2026 DB new additions.   Which players are completely new to our list and how did they earn their rankings? Find out all about the nine newly ranked DBs in our 2026 DB new additions.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2026 DB New Additions</h2>    Barnes is our highest-rated new addition regardless of position in this spring update. Part of that was us glossing over his solid play last season and part of that was his recruitment blowing up this spring. Barnes is a long, detail-oriented corner who has huge upside and has picked up some Power Four offers in recent months.     Hulbert is a rangy safety with good size and the ability to come down and play man coverage in the slot. He flashed as a junior with some excellent plays. The recovery and closing speed is the story here as he's almost never too far out of a play to make a play on the ball. He's a really solid player and we're high on him.     The Gardner Webb commit has great length and solid coverage skills at corner, a good combination at the position. He's comfortable in press and off-man coverage and his athletic profile looks like it should translate to an aggressive college defense.     Summerville can really move, with a 4.6 40 and 4.3 shuttle, and that shows up on film. His ball production was off the charts, as he registered seven picks last season in 10 games. That's a testament to his ability to read the eyes of the quarterback and play facing the line of scrimmage.     Svonovec is a plus run defender at safety with the physical upside to be a really solid centerfield type of free safety. He has great size and moves well, making a number of athletic plays last season for the Mavericks. Svonovec improved as the year went on and put up excellent numbers. He can continue to build on that and could have a great senior season.     A bit undersized, Williams can really move and he's smooth in coverage. He has good ball skills and the ability to disrupt throws at the catch point. After playing well for Kings Mountain, Williams is transferring to Shelby for his final year at the high school level, so I'm interested to see how he performs in that system.     This class is generally lacking in bigger defensive backs who can move, but Williams fits the bill. He's gone a bit under the radar, including from us, but Williams is a guy who can really play. He plays a hybrid role for North Wake, coming down into the box to play the run often, but his length and athleticism make him an ideal strong safety candidate and his speed measurables more than cross the threshold for that position.    <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Other New 2026 DBs</h3>   A few of our new 2026 DBs have had recent in-depth evaluations from Matt Morrow after his CFI Showcases Camp.
