It's still extremely early for the class of 2028. These are incoming sophomores who largely haven't played a significant amount of Varsity football. Next season, most still won't start on varsity. Then, in a year and a half, we'll finally see the true value of this class.

In the past year of gathering names in the class of 2028, a few stand out as especially hard workers. Here are five names that I'd like to shout out!

I do not expect Lou to gain significant Varsity time until 2026, but still, he's working his tail off. I know that Lou is a very competitive person, and he's trying very, very hard to improve upon every aspect of being a Quarterback.

Still very early for Lou. Raw in several areas, but still pretty darn ahead of the curve. Once I expand the 2028 rankings to 100+ ranked, Lou will absolutely be included.

Demarius attended the MHSAA showcase in Brighton and impressed me greatly. Athletesism on par with guys I'm used to developing into D2 or D1 prospects. Hands were not great, but he has plenty of time to work, and I don't know how much of an impact Deleon will have in the pass game.

As a 3-down back, Deleon has great upside. Keep on repping, keep on hitting the weight room, and focus on athletesism. This could be a great small-school prospect.

LaLama has done nothing but work since he hit our watch list. Since December, Antonio has improved his 40, Shuttle, and broad jump. Steady, incremental improvements like this paint a good picture for the type of player Antonio could be once he's an upperclassman.

From camps, 7on7, and more, Antonio seems to be doing everything right. It's a process and takes a lot of discipline and delayed gratification. Keep going, keep having fun, and I could soon be writing about Antonio's "breakout season".

Generally speaking, it is rare to see a freshman lineman work as hard as Ethan.

Last season, Ethan put up some great JV tape. Great run blocking, and fits Howell's scheme incredibly well. Since the end of the 2024 season, Ethan has attended several workouts, and he's now in the midst of track season. Plus, he's got straight A's. Moving forward, I see that Ethan is set to camp at Texas A&M, Rice, Michigan, and Vanderbilt.

Time will tell just how good Ethan will be. Regardless of his ceiling, he's doing everything right. I could easily see Ethan have a breakout (Varsity?) season. Considering his grades, I see Ethan playing college football at an academic powerhouse.

A dual-sport athlete who tracks as a great DB in the Catholic League.

Currently, Jay'Ar is in the midst of track season. He just competed in regionals, running the 4x200, while also running other sprinting events at other meets. I don't know his times/splits, but what I do know is that track sprinters who also play DB have a good track record (no pun intended). Plus, Jay'Ar has been busy visiting colleges, competing in the DLS college showcase, and I would bet he'll be at a multitude of camps this summer.

Not sure if Jay'Ar will be a varsity player this year, and if he's not, that's completely ok. What matters is that Jay'Ar is putting in consistent work and showing steady improvement. I like Campbell's odds of eventually developing into a starter with college interest.
