This year's Tennessee Future Stars had four different tryout areas around the state, all in an effort to be selected for the prestigious football team. When the smoke settled, there were seven (7) 8th grade (class of 2029) prospects who are labeled specifically as Wide Receivers on the roster, for the annual border war against Kentucky. This year's 2029 group will attempt to stop the recent Kentucky winning street, as the boys in blue have won the previous three years on the eighth-grade level. Without a further adieu, here are the seven (7) prospects selected.

Moulden has been a top performer for the Tennessee Future Stars the past two years and I expect that he'll have another big game against Kentucky. The speed, quickness and agility of Moulden makes him a very dangerous prospect at this point. Earlier in May 2025, Moulden showed off his ability in the Concord Christian's Spring Game against Oneida on both offense and defense. Size will be a factor in how high his ceiling is, long term.

Oakland Middle School is one of the most dominant pre-high school programs in the entire state of Tennessee, and Kevondre Bass was one of the big reasons of the 2024's team success. Bass was an All-Rutherford County selection this year and routinely made plays in all three phases of the game. Like [player_tooltip player_id='1031934' first='Dasani' last='Moulden'] above, size will be a determining factor long term, because the ability is there right now.

One of four Wide Receivers on the 8th Grade Tennessee Future Stars that are listed at, or above, the 5-foot-9 mark--look for McCord to be a big play threat. Austin East was full of big time playmakers this season and McCord was near the top of the list. Comes with very good size, pretty good speed and excellent ball skills for this level. Per MileSplit, earlier this spring, McCord set PRs in the 100M (12.96) High Jump (4'-10") and 200M (24.68). It wouldn't shock me at all, if McCord ended up being primarily used as a Safety by the time college comes around.

This year will mark the third tour of duty for Stephens with the Tennessee Future Stars, but his first as a Rossville Middle Schooler, after making the move from Chattanooga Prep. Rossville is actually located in Georgia, right near the GA/TN state line. Stephens helped Rossville to a banner year athletically, as football went undefeated and won its first North Georgia Athletic Conference (NGAC) title in 12 years, basketball reached the NGAC championship (Stephens was leading scorer) and the Track team finished second overall in the NGAC--with Stephens winning the 200m championship. A ton of ability here...clealry.

Ask anybody who is remotely knowledgable in Tennessee high school/middle school football, and the Alcoa program will quickly get name-dropped. Alcoa will be represented on the TN Future Stars this year, by multi-sport standout, [player_tooltip player_id='1537158' first='NuKeise' last='Minor']. Minor is a long, lean prospect with a big wingspan for being set to enter high school. Having seen him play live at the Fire vs. Ice All-American Game this past January, I like him more as a Defensive Back--but things can, and do, quickly change at this level.

While Christ Presbyterian Academy won a 2024 State title on the Varsity level this past December, their eighth-grade team started out 3-0, before finishing with a 4-3 record. One of the top 2029 players for CPA was, and is, [player_tooltip player_id='1681822' first='Phillip' last='Vaughn']. Vaughn is the thickest of the WR's on this 8th Grade TN Future Stars Team, and should serve as a nice red zone target. I also expect he'll be able to keep the chains moving with some tough grabs in traffic.
