However you want to look at it, the transfer portal of sorts has become an overwhelming factor of the high school football scene in the state of Tennessee and it has been used for a variety of reasons to an extent unseen at this level.

However, there are some under-the-radar prospects that have made moves to strong programs with good coaching staffs that are not being talked about enough despite the ability and fit they will bring to their new teams.

These seven players are players with college potential that should be important playmakers this fall for their new teams.

Southwind 2027 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1759477' first='Malcolm' last='Jack']

Southwind loses dynamic quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='480742' first='Kelvin' last='Perkins'] to the college level, but they did a good job of reworking the backfield to keep pace as one of the top teams in the 6A classification for the 2026 season.

Rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='1759477' first='Malcolm' last='Jack'] comes in to take over at the quarterback position and is one of the most underrated players in the entire state. He has good size and can throw the ball with velocity in the intermediate and over the middle of the field. He has dual-threat capabilities which will be utilized, but he will provide more of a pocket passer presence that will be complemented by an elite rushing attack.

The Jaguars should be a championship contender again this season and the stability Jack should provide at quarterback will be a large reason why they are in the title picture.

James Counce is attempting to build a strong Rockvale program in one of the toughest regions in the state regardless of level and tailback [player_tooltip player_id='1567089' first='Jamarcus' last='Brown'] gives him an a reliable weapon to rely on this season.

He is a large running back at 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds with the ability to run behind his pads, making him a tough runner to tackle that bounces off defenders. He can pick up the tough yards each play between the tackles, but has shown some ability to generate explosive plays in spring practice.

He will anchor a young yet talented offense and should give it a baseline level of consistency while facing tough competition.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292338' first='Aaron' last='Heatherly'] is a very intriguing tight end currently flying under the radar of colleges, but will be a nice fit for the Alcoa program during his senior season. He can fill that do-it-all H-back role that the coaching staff can use as a Swiss Army Knife in their dynamic offense.

The offense has high level proof of concept with a similar player in Eli Owens, who would end up going to Michigan. While that would be a high level to reach, Heatherly offers a reliable skillset that should see FCS offers begin to come his way with a strong season. They already have as ETSU just gave the tight end his first offer.

Lipscomb Academy 2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1646108' first='Drew' last='Rempel']

[player_tooltip player_id='1646108' first='Drew' last='Rempel'] really bought into the team success at Page last season, making the move from quarterback to receiver and it turned into both team and personal success, recording 705 yards and five touchdowns on the path to winning the first state championship in school history.

With head coach Trent Dilfer leading the Mustangs again along with his young brother joining the high school ranks, Rempel has come back to Lipscomb Academy and should continue to build on the success he established quickly at receiver.

He has a Division One skillset with size, movement ability, and ball skills. Those traits will help him keep growing as he becomes more nuanced at the position and he should be one of the best wideouts at the DII-AAA level this fall.

Riverdale should have one of the most exciting passing attacks in the entire state and everyone seems to be pointing at star wideout [player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor'], but his new teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2101290' first='Gavin' last='Johnson'] is one of the better receiver prospects in the entire state as well.

He has the size to work on the outside at the high school level and will offer a very different dimension to the receiver core with his explosive ability and natural YAC skills. He recorded nearly 750 yards in a loaded passing offense last year and that was for good reason with the skillset of the modern slot that works at a very high level.

He should be one of the most dynamic receivers in the entire state with [player_tooltip player_id='1287058' first='Gavin' last='Hampton'] throwing him the ball this fall and it will be exciting to watch. If he produces the way he should this fall, I would not be surprised to see some bigger programs start looking his way.

Page 2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='2141270' first='Dylan' last='Streeter']

[player_tooltip player_id='2141270' first='Dylan' last='Streeter'] is an intriguing playmaker with a breakout season written all over him. CPA had several long receivers with legit track speed, making for a rotation at the position outside of Vanderbilt signee [player_tooltip player_id='824736' first='Owen' last='Cabell']. The move to Page should free Streeter up for a larger role as the top receiving option at a top program in the state for the next two seasons.

He has excellent size for the position at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds with explosive ability that he has showed on the track and in workouts, recently hitting 22.7 miles per hour in a sprint. He will offer a big-play downfield threat this season, which should work well off a strong rushing attack for the Patriots.

He is natural mover with hips fluid enough to make one forget that he is 6-foot-3 already. Everyone is ready for his breakout and that could come this season in an expanded role at Page.

Alcoa 2028 OT [player_tooltip player_id='2090696' first='Caden' last='Gang']

My first look at offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='2090696' first='Caden' last='Gang'] was at the Prep Redzone Winter Showcase and he showed out in the handful of reps I was able to take in during the event.

He has a long, but light frame at over 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds, but he already boasts a strong anchor that can hold up against legit FBS talent already and it will reach an even higher level of consistency as he keeps packing on weight at Alcoa. He has good length and great athleticism that allows for him to be excellent in space, something that should translate immediately for the Alcoa rushing attack.

Alcoa had a player that was built similar and shined at the same Prep Redzone event last year in Jacob Crow and following the event, he kept developing and his recruitment broke out, ending with him signing to a CFP team in Texas Tech.

I love this fit and Gang has two years to keep improving under the coaching staff at Alcoa and be pushed on one of the most talented teams in the entire state of Tennessee. He is an under-the-radar player right now, but with an improved frame and strong junior season, that might not last long.
