Is it too early to start looking at the rising athletes in New Jersey's 2030 class? Not a chance. These are the types of players that if you don't take notice now, it could turn out to be too late. Representing some of the most versatile athletes in the state, each of these young studs can thrive wherever they're placed on the field.

After watching [player_tooltip player_id='1476876' first='Malachi' last='Bredy']'s 2024 highlight tape, it's clear that he has emerged as one of the top athletes in New Jersey's 2030 class. A larger-than-life presence on the field, Malachi is clearly a cut above the competition. Towering over others in his age group, your eyes are immediately drawn to Malachi pre-snap, as you know he has the potential to make eye-popping plays.

Malachi excelled on both sides of the ball in 2024. As a bruising tailback, he showcased his long-stride running style by accelerating through the hole and outrunning defenders in open space. Not only was he a threat in the run game, but Malachi also displayed strong hands, securing concentrated catches in traffic and turning upfield with ease. His team will find every way possible to get the ball in his hands.

However, Malachi's true calling may be on defense. A dominant linebacker who is too explosive to contain, he consistently finds his way to the ball carrier and disrupts plays before they even develop. His versatility makes it difficult to predict where he'll line up in the future—he has proven himself more than capable of applying pressure as an edge rusher but could also drop back as a middle linebacker and command the defensive unit.

An athlete I had the chance to watch perform earlier this year at the Next Combine in North Jersey, [player_tooltip player_id='1590596' first='Brice' last='Johnson'] impressed from start to finish. As one of the top cornerbacks at the combine, Brice exemplified everything you're looking for in a future lockdown defensive back.

Competing against the top receivers at the Next event, Brice showed excellent change-of-direction skills and the ability to stay glued to the receiver's hip as they ran through the route tree. Brice's silky-smooth hip movement gave him the edge anytime a receiver tried to break down and come back to the quarterback.

Brice can also line up on offense as an electric slot receiver. Demonstrating quick footwork and precise routes over the middle in 2024, Brice is poised to be a standout on both sides of the ball. It'll be exciting to see just how great he can become as he continues to grow and develop.

Right off the bat, I have to say—I am blown away by how impressive [player_tooltip player_id='1401025' first='Ja'zi' last='Harvey'] looked in 2024. His highlights from this past season suggest that Ja'zi may be one of the most talented players in New Jersey's 2030 class.

With the majority of his tape highlighting his offensive snaps, Ja'zi proved he can be just as productive whether taking handoffs in the backfield or running routes downfield. As a receiver, Ja'zi demonstrated explosive leaping ability, consistently outcompeting defenders for the ball throughout the fall. With phenomenal body control, spatial awareness, and elite hand-eye coordination, Ja'zi is always the favorite in 50/50 situations.

If his receiving skills weren't enough to impress, then his ability to carry the rock should convince you that he's a special talent. Extremely agile with the ball in his hands, there were multiple instances of Ja'zi planting his foot, completely changing direction, and accelerating away as he found daylight. Ja'zi is the type of athlete that will attract early offers.

More developed than your average 2030 quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='1583397' first='RJ' last='Finlaw'] is a player to take notice of. Another athlete I had the chance to see compete earlier in the year, RJ solidified himself as one of the rising stars in the 2030 class.

RJ is built strong and can really put zip behind the ball. As he moved through individual drills and into live action against the defensive backs, RJ made it apparent he has devoted a lot of time to perfecting his mechanics, which led to well-timed, accurate throws throughout the day. Composed against the DBs, RJ showed patience in allowing the receiver to run his route and displayed strong decision-making to prevent any contested throws.

RJ's size and football IQ translate well to the defensive side of the ball, as he lined up in 2024 as a ball-hawking safety. As a quarterback himself, he has a natural understanding of what the offense is showing him, allowing him to anticipate throws and jump routes to take the ball the other way. With RJ's physicality and quick reactions, he covers a lot of ground quickly and delivers swift, hard-hitting tackles. Based on his size alone, don't be surprised if we see him get some reps at linebacker in 2025.

Is it too early to start looking at the rising athletes in New Jersey's 2030 class? Not a chance. These are the types of players that if you don't take notice now, it could turn out to be too late. Representing some of the most versatile athletes in the state, each of these young studs can thrive wherever they're placed on the field.
