Louisiana's 2027 class is already showing another round of impressive talent developing in The Boot on its way to stock college recruiting classes in now less than two years.

And standing out early on in the group is the makings of one of the state's best-ever crops of quarterbacks.

Here's a look at six young passers among the highlights in the cycle thus far.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250887' first='Peyton' last='Houston'] — 6-0, 195 QB — Evangel Christian

Houston has been Prep Redzone Louisiana's top-ranked 2027 prospect through the group's high school career thus far and backed up his strong billing with an all-state sophomore season in the state's highest classification. The Eagles' star completed 310 of his 442 passes (70.1%) for a state-best 4,480 yards and 38 touchdowns in his first season as starter, including a record-breaking 800-plus yard game in October, and added another 690 yards and seven scores on the ground. "Pop" shows not only intriguing physical talent with his arm talent, quick release and athleticism, but is the most polished passer of the group early in his development with his ball placement and understanding of how to attack and anticipate opposing defenses.

[player_tooltip player_id='642719' first='Elijah' last='Haven'] — 6-4, 205 QB — Dunham

Haven's combination of physical tools and on-field experience and success stand out, even among a promising group. He has a tall, long frame with a strong arm and notable athleticism that has made him a leading playmaker for both his Tigers' title-contending football and basketball programs, including a pair of semifinal runs on the court and a title-game appearance this football season. Haven completed 193 of his 321 passes (60.1%) for 3,093 yards, 37 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while rushing 158 times for another 925 yards and 19 scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='465282' first='Malachi' last='Zeigler'] — 6-3, 200 QB — Benton

The Tigers' promising standout helps round out Louisiana's early top tier of likely four-star national prospects at the position. Like Houston and Haven, Zeigler possesses both a big arm and the athletic ability to burn opposing defenses with not only his passing ability, but his legs and elusiveness on the move. Zeigler has continued to bolster his recruiting stock throughout the early months of 2025 with his accuracy down the field in Under Armour and Elite 11 settings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250281' first='Karsen' last='Sellers'] — 6-2, 185 QB — Alexandria

Sellers stepped into a lead role this fall of a sophomore quarterback tandem for a title-hopeful team in one of Louisiana's toughest districts and held his own to help the Trojans win their first 13 games and make the program's first-ever Caesars Superdome trip and second-ever state-championship appearance. He completed 109 of his 171 passes (63.7%) for 1,714 yards and 27 touchdowns to just four interceptions. And on top of his efficient running of the offense most of the season, taking care of the ball and quickly distributing to his weapons, he also showed some intriguing flashes of his ability to elude pressure and well-placed off-platform throws back-pedaling or rolling out.

[player_tooltip player_id='934591' first='Kingston' last='Johnson'] — 6-0, 180 QB — Live Oak

The Eagles' standout is among the talented, but still relatively under-the-radar young passers who help provide some notable depth to Louisiana's quarterback class beyond just the early headliners. Johnson has a strong arm and a quick release to zip ropes to every level of the field with ease. And he has shown notable athleticism to make plays with his legs, whether extending plays to buy his receivers time downfield, making throws on the move or cutting and dancing his way past defenders for gains on the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id='489183' first='Parker' last='Robinson'] — 6-2, 185 QB — Neville

Another promising multisport standout with good size and athleticism for the next level, Robinson had a strong first season overall at the Class 5A level in the same aforementioned loaded District 2-5A featuring Sellers and Alexandria. Robinson, also a talented basketball player, completed 162 of his 237 passes (68.4%) for 2,225 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions while also rushing for another couple scores. Robinson throws a pretty deep ball. And while he doesn't isn't likely to burn defenses for big plays with his legs like some of his peers in the class, he does a nice job of extending plays and making throws outside the pocket.
