The rep at 00:49 gives you a gist of the type of athlete we are dealing with here. Steele takes a direct snap, bounces an inside run laterally, hard enough to make two defenders in position to whiff. Steele would hit a second gear and outrun a couple more DBs for a 40+ score via direct snap. The rest of Steele's tape showcases why I think he's one of the best pure athletes in this class. Snaps at QB, an occasional throw to be had. Steele won't be playing QB at the next level of course, yet it means something if Shamokin staff trust him enough to handle snaps. Where Steele shines brightest is at DB. A comfortable safety in two or single high sets. Great IQ and awareness let Steele roam free, free to press and close passing lanes in a hurry, free to range to his half of the field to make plays on the football. Fantastic brain under this kid's helmet, you can see what he's thinking based on how he attacks two-man passing concepts to his side of the field. A tackler who is authoritative beyond his build. I usually do not rank kids if they can't release a full-season, yet Powell's play at our camp, along with his first-four tape were enough for a ranking, a high one at that. Beefy build, one suitable for interior OL/DL play. First rep on tape has Powell pulling at left guard and flattening an un-blocked OLB. Fantastic forward momentum and balance coupled with powerful leg drive allows Powell to serve as the ideal lead-puller for Imhotep. Does a good job getting his backside in the hole, a great seal-blocker in the run game. I feel like the best of Powell is yet to come. Registered 48 tackles, seven of which went for TFLs. Ran the ball 40 times for 250 yards and two scores, offensive production is icing on the cake in my opinion. First rep on tape has Cornell creating a QB hurry post blitz through the A-gap. Cornell is as tough as they come, a pound-for-pound enforcer who proves it as an open-field tackler. A safety/DB, one that West Allegheny can get creative with in terms of alignment. Can blitz with timing through any gap at this level, is tough enough to take on any type of build in his path. An authoritative defensive disruptor is a great/accurate label. Not a prospect unaccustomed to pass coverage, Cornell has a feel pass-cover reps on tape, some PBUs too. Stat line doesn't show off interceptions, receptions, or PBUs. A second-half rep winner. Episcopal Academy's [player_tooltip player_id='816319' first='Cooper' last='Ebeling'] carries your prototypical collegiate lineman build. Plays left guard for EPA, yet I could see Ebeling playing tackle for other Inter-Ac programs. Has experience at right tackle on EPA too if you stay a bit later on his tape. Good first steps out of his stance, a fantastic finisher thanks to a revving motor and a balanced leg-drive. Has a couple of shocks off the LOS post-punch. Love the rep at the 1:24 mark, one in which Ebeling engages in a double-team with his left tackle, only to quickly veer off to scoop up an incoming and free linebacker. This sophomore tape being a vast improvement from year's past. Quite the debut rank for a young man who was thought to be a 2026 prospect (Hudl says 2026). Would have likely made our ranks this time last year had that been corrected. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A backer who is comfortable working behind three or four-man defensive fronts. You can see [player_tooltip player_id='1592062' first='Michael' last='Wright'] primarily be stationed between the B-gaps, yet don't be fooled, this is a kid with instincts to play at the LOS, even in a more traditional OLB role if need be. Has a fantastic first step, hardly any false steps witnessed through the first three minutes of his tape. The read-and-react skills allow for Wright to get in front of pullers or lead blockers, catching and punishing backs that are behind out-of-position blockers. A full-momentum tackler, you're going to feel all of this kids weight when he hits you. I don't factor hit power into many of my backer evaluations, yet I cannot ignore this technique and downhill approach Wright plays with. Wright eats up space in front of him in a hurry. I don't see Wright leaving the top ten of his position group any time soon, I'm surprised he doesn't have an offer to his name yet. More production like this on tape and he'll force FBS programs' hand.
