We continue with our top impending senior QBs by moving up to Class 1A Iowa, a group that flourished brightly last season and showcased some impressive athletes under Center. This was a group that we covered extensively last season, and I was really impressed with how competitive and productive these players were throughout the 2024 season. Today, we take a look at the 8 QBs from Class 1A that are due for a huge senior season!

One of my favorite QBs to watch during the 2024 season, [player_tooltip player_id='1614184' first='Judd' last='Jirovsky'] lit up the division leading the mighty Spartans. Jirovsky finished with 2181 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and only 1 pick. He also ran for 532 yards and a whopping 18 touchdowns on the ground, leading all Class 1A QBs in both passing and rushing touchdowns. A talented and mobile QB, Jirovsky is as competitive of a QB that I've seen in this state. Jirovsky played lights out in his first year as a starter, running the offense in full command, and he looked impressively sharp and comfortable in the pocket, while also consistently using his legs to extend the play and scramble for a big gain. Riding on a 39 game winning streak, Jirovsky will look to extend that and bring the Spartans a fourth straight state title in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1242840' first='Talan' last='Fuson'] entered the 2024 season as one of the top DB prospects in the state, but his versatility was put on full display as Fuson was one of the most electric QBs in the division last year. Fuson threw for 1856 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 picks, while rushing for 902 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Fuson's passing mechanics grew exponentially this season, and he became much more dangerous as a QB as he became more confident in his passing. Fuson has established himself as a very legitimate two-way threat, and after guiding Woodward-Granger to their highest win total since 2012, he could parlay that success into making a deep playoff run in 2025.

After a solid sophomore debut in 2023, Peyton Welch showed great progression in his performance through his junior season. Welch finished with 1852 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 8 picks. He added 261 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Welch showed a lot more accuracy and arm strength this year, allowing him to connect on several long throws throws to his explosive targets, and he was not afraid to take shots to stretch the ball down the field. Welch will look to help South Hardin contend for the Class 1A title in 2025 after reaching the quarterfinal round last season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221934' first='Garrett' last='Luett']'s numbers in 2024 didn't exactly match the dominance that he displayed during his sophomore season, but he still had a highly productive year under center for Underwood's offense. Luett led the division with 2184 passing yards to go with 22 touchdowns to 12 picks. He also ran for 410 yards and 8 touchdowns. Being heavily relied on to progress the offense, he did end up making mistakes trying to get the ball down the field, but he hit his targets well more than he missed, and he remains to be sneakily dynamic as a dual-threat. Underwood will benefit having Luett under Center for one more season.

Tracy threw for 1901 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 picks, and added 751 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground. Tracy showed impressive strength and perfect ball placement on his deep throws, often finding his receivers in stride. He's a tough competitor, making impressive throws despite taking hits in the pocket and churning solid yardage on the ground on option plays. Tracy will have an opportunity to help his stock grow much greater heading into his senior campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='1100526' first='Judah' last='Lock']'s first year as a starter for Grand View Christian was an up and down journey, but his leadership and big-play ability as a passer gave great glimpses of his potential. Lock threw for 2070 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 15 picks, and adding 3 touchdowns on the ground. Lock did hit the mark on several beautiful passes in stride, showing excellent depth and accuracy on his throws in the pocket as he commanded his offense well throughout the year. If Lock can clean up some of the mistakes that occurred during the 2024 season, Lock could be on the radar to be at the very top of the division in 2025.

CeJay Jones flew under the radar in 2024, emerging after a slow start to become one of the more underrated QBs in the division. Jones threw for 1783 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 12 picks. Jones became more confident with his progressions and his willingness to take shots down the field as the season went along, and as a result, it made Ogden's offense a lot more competitive in the down-stretch of the year. Jones should fly under the radar once again heading into his senior year as an intriguing name to watch in this division.

Another QB that showed promise in 2024 despite playing on a struggling unit was [player_tooltip player_id='1699681' first='Amani' last='Robinson']. Robinson finished with 1382 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 7 picks. Robinson has the size, frame, and athleticism to be a great starting QB, and he showed glimpses of accuracy and excellent ball placement from the pocket. If the Sailors can find more ways to utilize his athleticism, Robinson should see a significant boost in his stock in his senior season that could help the Sailors get back on track.
