When you have a freshman 5th on the team in total tackles - a state-championship-winning team at that - then you know he's a special player. Jamil made several contributions as the Lions had a strong season and an even better run in the playoffs to their championship. We left Jamil in the Athlete category because I think at some point in his career he could be an offensive contributor, but he did a lot of his work on defense and special teams. Jamil fits best right now as an outside linebacker, and he does a great job of tackling in space against ball carriers. Jamil shows good speed and has good coverage discipline - we saw him pick up his only interception live earlier in the season. Jamil has an exceptionally bright future in front of him.

There are some times when you realize you are getting older - I actually had the pleasure of coaching Micah's father when he played in high school many years ago! This analysis is fun because Micah shows a lot of traits similar to those of his father at a young age. Micah did a lot of his work on defense as well, coming to Varsity in the middle of the season and staying on all the way through the playoffs. Micah is a strong safety/outside linebacker hybrid player who can blitz off the edge with good speed. Micah also does a good job of being disciplined in pass coverage. Micah also has shown to be an elite force on special teams, making several big plays including scoring a touchdown in a big playoff win this past season. Another Lion with a very bright future ahead of him!

Chase got a little bit of time on varsity this year, but he showed a ton of potential as a special player with the ball in his hands. Chase can play both running back and receiver, and excels in the open field, showing excellent speed and the ability to make defenders miss. As a receiver, Chase can close the cushion and get behind defensive backs quickly. Chase can also make some plays in the quick screen game, as he sets up and uses his blocks well. Chase is also a dynamic kick returner on Special Teams. Defensively, Chase can also play some cornerback and shows good speed and the ability to run with receivers in man coverage. I think Chase has a good future ahead of him as a big-time player in all three phases of the game.

Jayden had an impressive freshman season where he ended up being a contributor to a team that made the playoffs for the first time since 1984! Jayden made his contributions primarily as a running back. Looking at Jayden's film, he runs with impressive power to be such a young prospect. Combining that with some good speed, Jayden has the look of a future potential bell-cow running back for the Raiders. I am excited to see how Jayden builds off of a strong start to his high school football career.
