2026 Rankings Update: DB's Outside The Top 50 You Must Know!

Today we will be looking at some DB's outside of the top 50 that have been making some noise and turning some heads in the process. These are the players that will look to make a statement this offseason and pop onto the radar.    Johnson is a safety that has great vision being able to read through his keys to the QB's eyes and make a play on the football. He has soft hands and is able to come away with interceptions, showing his explosive ability and taking it to the house when he gets an opportunity. In run support he is able to come down quickly and fill the hole, laying a big hit on the ball carrier and bringing them down in a hurry. He is able to get off of blocks and can jar the ball loose as well. Look for him to be one of the top DB's this upcoming season and be a name to know.     Mehan is a player that was able to standout on both sides of the ball. He had a dominant season at RB rushing for over 800 yards and adding 16 touchdowns. He was able to add another touchdown on the defensive side, going up and high pointing the ball and then showing off his running back skills, setting up his blocks and lowering his shoulder to get into the endzone. He shows good anticipation and can read through the receiver to the QB, making a break on the ball and coming down with an interception. He is a player that is all over the field and should be a player to know on both sides of the ball as he can dominate on either.     Wittke is the top safety in 2A and with the numbers he put up last season he will be a name to know this offseason. He was able to come up with 9 interceptions on the season, being able to read his keys and make a break on the football. He does show the ability to come down in help in run support, using his speed to fill the hole and make a play. He will be looking to turn some heads and should be an active player on the camp circuit this offseason, making him a player to put on the radar.     Ruttgers is a safety with a lot of speed and plays like his hair on fire, flying around to make plays. In the running game he is able to drop down into the box and has the speed to beat blocks and make a tackle in the backfield. On film it looks as if he is shot out of a cannon as he gets ontop of the ball carrier as soon as they get the ball to bring them down for a TFL. In coverage he can cover the slot receiver or drop back, reading his keys and making a play on the ball to knock it down. He is a great coverage safety that has top tier speed and should be a player that hits the camp circuit hard this offseason.     McInnis is a safety that is a good open field tackler and is able to come down and fill the gap quickly to make a play. He can make a big hit and when the ball carrier gets stood up he is able to come clean up the play. He shows good vision being able to read the QB's eyes and make a play on the football, either knocking the ball down or laying a big hit on the receiver. McInnis is able to make an impact in the return game and shows off his speed setting up his blocks and flipping the field. Look for him to be an under the radar player to know moving forward.
