While Wittke was on a snap count throughout this game nursing an injury, I had to mention his name as he is the top playmaker for this 6-1 Denver West. It’s takes a good athlete to line up opposite as he has the speed as a vertical threat but also tremendous quickness, release footwork, and CB manipulation to threaten on the slant. Wittke does a great job shifting CB’s weight and frame outside creating so much space to get win inside – not many CBs can stop this route from him. He was such a hassle for defenses taking the attention of 2-3 defenders whenever he was on the field. If he was a full-go, I believe this game would’ve gone a lot differently.

Wittke is looking to have another breakout season. Last season the 6’0 160 pound safety/wide receiver had 39 total tackles (19 solo, 20 assisted), 4 TFL, 9 INT, 5 PD, and 3 pick sixes, with 16 carries for 169 yards, 2 touchdowns, 26 receptions, 478 yards, 9 touchdowns. He’s a dual position stud. He has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction and good jumping. The safety ranges from the deep zone to giving very good run support. He has very good strength and lays the boom on ball carriers. Very good in zone coverage and good in man. Very good ball tracking skills and very good catching. He’s a ball hawk with his home run speed to take it home. Colleges need to look his way because he has all the traits needed to succeed at the next level.

Wittke had a breakout year and is a name that D2 and FCS programs should have circled going into this fall. He led the state in interceptions with 9 while racking up over 1,000 all-purpose yards, showing his rare combination of playmaking on both sides of the ball. Wittke’s ability to create separation as a receiver and his reliable hands make him a true offensive weapon. On defense, his ball hawking skills and instincts jump off the tape. He plays fast, reacts quickly, and has a knack for making big plays in big moments. If he continues to build on last season’s momentum, Wittke has the potential to be an all-state caliber player and a late rising recruit worth watching.

Wittke is the top safety in 2A and with the numbers he put up last season he will be a name to know this offseason. He was able to come up with 9 interceptions on the season, being able to read his keys and make a break on the football. He does show the ability to come down in help in run support, using his speed to fill the hole and make a play. He will be looking to turn some heads and should be an active player on the camp circuit this offseason, making him a player to put on the radar.

Wittke led all 2A defensive backs in interceptions. Measuring in at 6’0 160 pounds, the WR/FS made impacts on both sides of the ball. On defense, he had 39 total tackles (19 solo, 20 assisted), 4 TFL, 9 INT, 5 PD, 3 pick sixes. Offensively, he had 16 carries for 169 yards, 2 touchdowns, 26 receptions for 478 yards and 9 touchdowns. Wittke has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction and jumping. He normally patrols the deep zones, but provides very good run support. Lays the boom on the ball carrier. Wittke is lockdown in zone, and good in man coverage. He has very good ball tracking skills, and uses his lengthy arms to pluck the ball out of the air. Uses his very good athletic ability to return them gaining over 200+ interception return yardage. He has very good mental processing. Wittke watches the QBs eyes like a hawk. He is a name to watch going forward, and colleges will be fortunate to have this ball-hawk on their team.

If one of the hardest things to do being Santa is to be everywhere at one time he might want to call [ of Denver West. The best gifts should always be picked last and that is why I have Robert finishing this article. Robert had more stats than I can write about. On September 6th, he had 13 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and an INT, but he jumped to the offensive side of the ball and had seven catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. On September 20th, Robert decided that just playing defense against Jefferson High School and recording two interceptions wasn’t enough, so he went to offense in the same game and got four receptions for 88 yards and not one, not two, but three touchdowns. On October 4th and October 18th, Mr. Wittke had two interceptions in the game; one against Mitchell, he decided that running the ball three times for 38 yards and a touchdown would feel his Christmas spirit, and then against Lincoln, he needed just two catches for 15 yds and a touchdown would do the trick. Robert only had two games where he did not record an interception, and in one, he played on the offensive side of the ball to record five catches for 180 yards and a Touchdown! HO HO HO! Merry Christmas
