With much of the event's groundwork already laid, it is time to discuss who-I-saw-do-what while at the Northeast Middle School Camp. Below are personal scouting notes from the action I witnessed.

Scout's Notes: Receivers

[player_tooltip player_id='1560162' first='Brishane' last='Sawyers'] was a prospect that many of the receiver coaches talked about. Blessed with size at 5'11" and 175lbs, he had an inherent, out advantage amongst many. The result? Sawyers did not disappoint. He used his body well to box out his matchups and also high point the ball on the top shelf. Additionally, Sawyers took some reps at defensive back, were I noticed him ignoring route fakes and sticking to his matchup like glue... For as physically gifted Sawyers is, it is hard to believe another 8th grader had him beat. Enter [player_tooltip player_id='1273850' first='Schuyler' last='Travis']. Travis measured an impressive 6'1" 202lbs. His advanced physical stature allowed him to gain a tremendous amount of ground, relatively effortlessly, with each step that he took. This put most of his opponents in a frantic, scared retreat mode... in a hurry.

The next two prospects had exceptional hands, hands that were especially strong at that. [player_tooltip player_id='1513665' first='Karter' last='Baker'] excelled at using his hands to exclusively catch the ball. No rep that I saw him take did he pin it to his chest or use his body. Baker used his hands to extend in just about every direction to reel in even the poorest of throws. Baker also did a nice job of apexing the ball at its highest point... The second of those hands-minded receivers was Terron Butler. A year younger than the aforementioned Baker, Butler was a bit of a bully with his hands. If hands could be violent, that is how I would describe Butler's set of hands. Butler plucked the ball, often going top shelf on shorter defenders, only to snatch the ball from his matchup's hopefully eyes and in some of the most demoralizing fashions.

Admittedly, I unfortunately do not get the chance to personally witness every prospect perform at this event - especially with groups as large as this events quarterback and wide receiver pool. However, one prospect that the coaches all seemed to have reached consensus over was [player_tooltip player_id='1264398' first='Shannon' last='Flores']. Although I did catch Flores appearing to be highly receptive to the hands-on, individual coaching he received, Flores was a prospect that all the coaches said "oh yea, #117 for sure." They shared with me that he had a very strong performance and had balled out at both receiver and defensive back.
