Diving into my favorite position on the offensive side of the ball, the running backs put on some of the best performances from the NJ Exposure Series event last weekend in Jackson, NJ. The results from the Universal Speed Rating are in, and they only solidify this position group as one of the best of the day. Having representatives from nearly every class, the RBs showed how deep NJ is at the RB position and how much talent will be coming through the pipeline for years to come.

If you read my MVP article, you know [player_tooltip player_id='1882875' first='Ryder' last='Izzo'] was the RB representative from the NJ Exposure Series event. However, after seeing his official testing numbers for the day, it's safe to say he may have been the MVP of the entire camp. Ryder was top 2 in every testing drill performed last Saturday. Posting the top 40-yard dash time with a 4.62s and best broad jump as well, the stats tell us Ryder is an explosive presence on the field that can blaze by defenders with power and speed. Showing off his change of direction, lateral quick, and ability to accelerate and decelerate, Izzo had the second best times for the shuttle (4.43s) and the L-drill as well. All of that combined makes it apparent that Ryder is one of the top athletes in the entire state. If you are looking for the more in depth breakdown of Ryder, you can check it out here.

[player_tooltip player_id='2158430' first='Cole' last='Garreffi'] was one of the more explosive backs at the combine. He showed some of the quickest first step acceleration of the day, consistently firing out of his stance with a burst, highlighted in his 4.57s shuttle time, which was 5th best of the day. His ability to get up to speed quickly makes him a dangerous threat in short areas in particular. Cole's quickness suggests he could successfully transition into a slot receiver role if he so chose to, where his acceleration and ability to create separation in space could make him a highly productive offensive weapon.

Tamarkius Rby Jr. showed an impressive blend of power and athleticism throughout the NJ Exposure Series, standing out as a downhill runner that plays with a consistent forward lean. He has the traits to develop into a punishing ball carrier, capable of wearing down defenders and finishing runs with force. His 40-yard dash (4.82s) time was especially impressive considering his age and the fact that he was competing against upperclassmen. What separated him even more was his agility in space. Roby Jr. moved well laterally, showed quick feet, and demonstrated the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. Tamarkius brings a strong combination of toughness, burst, and elusiveness that gives him intriguing upside heading into the summer.

Monroe is a dynamic offensive weapon that deserves scout's immediate attention. He consistently created problems for linebackers in the cat-and-mouse drill, using his quickness and instincts to manipulate them in space. Out of the backfield, his burst was immediate and explosive, allowing him to separate quickly and make it tough for defenders to track him in space. Monroe is a natural, smooth runner who seems to glide across the field effortlessly, making his movement look easy even at top speed. He posted one of the fastest 40-yard dash times of the day (4.69s), further validating the game-breaking speed he showed throughout drills. Monroe is going to be a problem for defenses once the fall arrives.
