Despite being sidelined with injury for a majority of the season, Ankeny Centennial's [player_tooltip player_id='401673' first='Javaris' last='Morgan'] still flashed his massive upside in the four games played. Serving as a backup, Morgan posted 318 yards on 41 carries on an impressive 7.8 average yards per carry, also scoring three rushing touchdowns. What's impressive about Javaris' game is how tough and physical he is with the ball in his hands. He has excellent contact balance to power through tackle attempts, with the power in his base to move piles when attacking between the tackles. He was very effective on a few sweep plays where he could get the ball in space with blockers in front of him and then use his speed to beat defenders to the edge. Great acceleration and burst when hitting his lanes. Morgan also showed that he is someone to watch out for as a receiving threat, with great hands and vision to tack on extra yardage after the catch. Big comeback season coming!

The West Lyon Wildcats were not only able to capture the Class 2A title but were able to do so with an impressive young core of players who will be returning to defend their championship. One of those players is junior [player_tooltip player_id='401668' first='Bryce' last='Kock'], who played a key role on one of the top offensive lines in Class 2A and earned several honors in the postseason. Bryce is a punishing mauler in the trenches who plays with a mean streak that drives him to finish all his blocks in the dirt. After three seasons as a starter, Bryce looks pretty polished on tape with his excellent use of leverage, footwork, positioning, and lateral quickness to project well to the collegiate level. Kock possesses great strength and drive in his base, allowing him to move defenders off the ball with ease. He has good bend in his hips/knees, which allows him to maintain a consistent pad level when engaged with defenders.

As I said, the West Lyon Wildcats' returning group is impressive, with Bryce's teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1238539' first='Ben' last='Meyer'] looking like a prospect to watch this offseason. Ben will surely get looks on both sides of the ball playing TE and DE, shining at both spots with eight catches, 157 receiving yards, two receiving touchdowns, 19.5 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, and eight sacks to end his junior campaign. Ben's offensive upside is intriguing, given his ability to be a threat in the passing game and his ability to be an asset as a blocker. As a receiver, Meyer has shown he can be a reliable target over the middle of the field with the athleticism and physicality to beat out linebackers and safeties covering him. He's very strong at the catch point, with big, powerful mitts that help him pluck the ball out of the air and hold on when battling through contact. This same strength makes him a promising blocker who can clear out lanes in the running game.

One of the biggest risers in the 2026 class after a great junior year! Cedar Rapids Xavier's [player_tooltip player_id='1238169' first='Carter' last='Hoffman'] had a highly productive season in which he ran for 1,278 yards and 11 touchdowns while showing he is also a versatile offensive weapon who can be mixed in at receiver. When watching Hoffman's junior tape, my thoughts after a few plays were, does this guy ever go down? It seemed like every attempt to bring him down ended with Carter bouncing off the defender while keeping his balance and tacking on a few yards after contact. He sees the field extremely well and can hit even small creases with great explosiveness. Good twitch and change of direction. Lots to like here, should buy stock now!

Here's another mauler on the offensive line who will likely draw college attention this offseason. Waukee's [player_tooltip player_id='1240572' first='Colt' last='Schipper'] jumped on our radar in a showcase after his sophomore year, and we have been keeping a close eye on him, expecting his inevitable breakout season. Schipper flashed versatility and football IQ to be plugged in at either left or right guard seamlessly. He's very athletic and mobile for his size with good lateral quickness that help him move into the second and third level to clear out defenders. He does a great job working his hands inside with the strength to overpower defenders once he's able to gain inside leverage. Great pad level and consistent bend throughout the rep. Colt's size and tape will be sure to draw college attention.
